This is a lovely hotel in a pretty, quiet village with easy access to lots of interesting places. Everything is comfortable, immaculate and charming. The staff are delightful, genuinely friendly and quick to anticipate your every need. Nothing was too much trouble. Dinner and breakfast were excellent and beautifully presented, and there is a well tended, peaceful garden to enjoy...

What a lovely review! Our staff will really appreciate your comments, as we do to - it's always nice when hard work pays off and their efforts are noticed, and commented upon. Very pleased you enjoyed TSH and we hope to welcome you back soon.

We had an overnight stay on our way to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow - wish we could have stayed longer. The welcome was first class as was the service throughout. Our bedroom was very comfortable and spotless, had everything you needed for a great stay. The evening meal in the restaurant was also first class - excellent ingredients and...

Many thanks for taking the time to write a review and for your kind words! We have many guests stopping off on their way to far-off parts of Scotland - it is a nice way of breaking the journey and, as you say, Ash's food is always worth making a short diversion for! Hope to see you again another time...

We made an overnight stay at Temple Sowerby House following a visit to the Potfest in the Park near Penrith. The welcome was as warm as the weather and very quickly we were shown around and escorted to our attractive and comfortable room. I was delighted with the modern spa-shower and in no time we were seated on the little...

Delighted you enjoyed your short stay during the July heatwave! So good to feel the sun again...it seems to be years since we had a decent spell like that! Just one correction to make....the lamb dish to which you refer was not, in fact, with goat's cheese. It is a dish of rump of lamb with onion textures and a...

We discovered this fantastic hotel quite by chance when looking for a stopover on the way to stay with friends in Glenlivet, Scotland. Everything was perfect, in fact just as you would put on you wish list. From the delicious food, cloth table napkins, walled garden, super room and pretty Wedgewood china it ticked all the boxes. Only problem I...

Thank you so much for your 'fantastic' review! We have many guests who stay with us on the way to and from Scotland - we're a very handy stopping-off point, being half way from the south of England to the highlands of Scotland! Make TSH a part of your holiday - makes the journey worthwhile!

We stayed here as three families enjoying a few days away in different hotels. This was one of them. Our rooms were comfortable and quiet (in the Coach House) and the hotel itself is very clean and well-maintained with comfortable sitting rooms and a beautiful walled garden at the back. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. However the hotel...

Wow, that's a rave review! Ash is delighted you all enjoyed his food so much - he certainly has the knack of creating dishes that our guests really enjoy, rather than pandering to the whims of inspectors! Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review, much appreciated...

My bride of 26 years had no idea what I was up to and thought we were popping in for tea. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were treated beautifully. My wife was most impressed. The room (8) was lovely; the flowers (ordered in specially) were just right and the food was simply stunning. I...

Many thanks for your kind comments and we were delighted to help with the surprise! I've passed your comments on to our chef, Ash and the housekeeping staff too, whose attemtion to detail is much admired! Regarding the 'road noise' at the back, it really is very unusual to hear it - conditions have to be just right...or wrong even!!...

Revisited Temple Sowerby House Hotel whilst on a short break with friends after several years away. If anything the Hotel is better than remembered. It is a (relatively) small very well run establishment offering food and accommodation of the highest order. Attention to detail is everything and the owners and staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. If you are looking...

Just returned from another fantastic break at Temple Sowerby House. This hotel is truly exceptional. Well, what a review! It's always rewarding when guests return to TSH and enjoy themselves just as much as the previous times. Consistency is the most difficult thing to achieve and we owe a debt to all our staff, who strive with us to maintain standards and provide that consistent level of service and hospitality. Booked this hotel as a gift for my husbands 50th birthday, after having read the excellent reviews. Well of course there are two sides to every story and certainly, in this case, the facts are rather different to those presented! However, we do not feel it is right to 'get personal' and so will refrain from commenting on that. Suffice to say that sometimes a poor review reflects more on the writer than the hotel! At least...
