Better than expected. Gorgeous cabin situated with sublime view of the valley, and happily, to complete the picture, we saw a Quetzal flying low over the valley while sitting on the little deck. Kitchen was great, and next time we'll actually use it. We ate mostly at Miriam's (excellent, super friendly, lots of birds at the feeders outside), and once...

San Gerardo de Dota is one of my favorite places in Costa Rica - peaceful, with extraordinary opportunities for bird-watching in the cloud forests. Simple, sturdy cabins sit on a ridge with a view over the cloud forests near the Savagre River. Hiking trails on the property and nearby. It was especially helpful to receive lots of trail information before...

Stayed for two nights in Cabin B - it was very comfortable and nicely furnished and the heater was needed which was a shock after the Caribbean coast! No luck seeing quetzals - although enjoyed trying to find them ourselves (we didn't hire a guide) - heard but not seen! Saw loads of other birdlife and enjoyed walks in the...

Thank you kindly for you review, we are all pleased that you enjoyed you visit. Sorry you could not see the Quetzal but with the winds it has been hard this year. Sorry too I could meet you in person but having Liliana and Nelson is a blessing for us as we cannot be there a lot of the time...

We expected an extremely basic cabin but it turned out to be very comfortable and in excellent condition. It had a double bed and two singles - we were just two, but it would be fine for a family. The little heater and warm blankets helped with the cold February nights. The view was lovely and the highlight was seeing...

Glad you could see the Quetzals, they are getting hard to find these days. Glad you like our cabin and location. Sorry about the mattress, we changed some at the start of the season but did not realize the one in your cabin C was bad. Thanks for letting us know and we have already bought a new one and...

Rustic individual cabins perched on a steep mountainside overlooking the stunning Savegre River valley. Difficult but rewarding hiking trail(s) on this property. Saw Quetzal(s). Affiliated(sort of) Miriam's café right up the road has typically friendly Tico service and decent food/prices.

We went to Quetzal Valley in search of the elusive Resplendent Quetzal, and we were not disappointed. On the second day we sat beside a wild avocado tree near the cabins at 5:00 AM. A pair of Quetzals, as promised, came to feed at 06:20. We were delighted. This was the highlight of our two-week trip to Costa Rica. The...

We stayed for a weekend in september... and it was amazing! The rustic cabana was fully equipped and it was much more comfortable than we expected. We loved to ignite the iron stove to warm up the place, thankfully the cabana had a vast stockpile of dry wood so we didn't had problem starting and keeping alive the fire. The...

San Gerardo de Dota is THE PLACE if yo want to see those elusive Quetzals in Costa Rica, especially if you are arriving in off season when the mating is over. I tried my best to see them in Monteverde in July and only managed to see a sleeping female one in the night, despite having two very experienced guides...

Loved the rustic but confortable cabins. Good location. Nice view. Quiet since it is not too close to the mail road. Nice trails for walks. There are eating establishments close by if you do not wish to cook. I recommend this place.

We stayed in San Gerardo de Dota for one night as part of a larger trip, and it was our only time in the Cloud Forest. Our cabin had a great view of the mountains and foliage. The cabins are wooden, inside and out. They have private bathrooms, a coffee maker, and a space heater (it does get quite cold...
