Bunaken Seagarden Resort is a great place to stay and to snorkel and dive with. The accommodation is super comfortabel and clean and the food, 3 times a day, is good! There is free tea and coffee and a fridge where you can buy beers and soft drinks! WIFI is good! We had lots of interaction and fun with other guests and also with owners and staff. My sons got their PADI at Bunaken Seagarden Resort. They had a really good, safe ánd relaxed dive instructor. After their PADI exam they had 4 more days of diving with really good dive masters. We joined the dive boat to go snorkeling. We got tips about where to snorkel and they followed us with the boat. That was really relaxed! We got tea, coffee and cookies on the boat. We also snorkeled in front of BSR. They have the best house-reef. The wall is so close to the beach that you can easily reach it, with low and high tide. Because we couldn't catch the public boat and didn't want to be in Manado we made use of the transfer, perfectly organized by BSR. They also organised a dolphin trip (and we saw lots of dolphins, swimming along with the boat). Bunaken is AMAZING for diving and snorkeling and I can truly recommend Bunaken Seagarden Resort to stay and to dive and snorkel with!…

Warm welcoming from Sonja the owner, excellent food and gentle maids, very nice place to rest and read in front of sunset, snorkeling easy just below the ressort, and professional diving with Harry to see wonderfull corals and sealife. Everything is done to facilitate arrival and departure from Manado, or to explore the Island with motorbike. Many languages talken. Perfect journey and good trip in North Sulawesi to discover Bunaken !

This hotel is fantastic! I checked many others to make a booking and finally I decided to go on with Bunaken Sea Garden Resort. It was a perfect choice. Owner Sonya and staff was very helpful and profesional. We had a beautiful two storey house in minahasa style, very clean, with two fans. In front of the resort there is a small beach with mangrove forest. Swimming 200meters further there is a beautifull coral reefs with a lot of fish, turtles, snakes etc. It is amazing underwater paradise. Food is excellent: different kind of fish, sometimes chicken, beef and variety of salads. Popi and owner Sonya are very nice, helpful. Sonya helped us and supported us while beeing in troubles with a flight delay.

Great resort with super friendly and helpful staff. The island Bunaken is small but beautiful. I enjoyed snorkeling so much that I decided to stay at Bunaken Sea Garden Dive Resort, and let go of my plan to explore North Sulawesi. The resort owner really made me feel at home and went snorkeling with me. The accommodation is very good, I got a free upgrade to the superior room. Don't forget to take enough cash as there is no ATM on Bunaken. Also no supermarket, just small shops selling basic needs. Don't worry about food: the resort is providing 3 good meals per day. Fresh, healthy and veried. Free coffee and tea. All inclusive, I only had to pay extra for beer. You will not regret staying here for sure. Snorkeling right from the resort, within a few minutes you'll be surrounded by an amazing underwater world. Diving is possible too, all equipment is available.…

Bunaken SeaGarden Resort is a wonderful place to stay if you want to explore one of the worlds best coral reefs. The reef consists of an enormous variation of corals and is populated by an innumerable amount of fish and other species. I have to mention the turtles. Bunaken SeaGarden Resort consists of nice and clean bungalows on a beautiful and well maintained area. The food is good, it is also easy if you are a vegetarian. You can get cold sodas and beer at all times. The best of all, the coral reef is just a short swim away... The friendly hosts Harrie and Sonya are always around and very helpful. Lunch and dinner is served at a fixed time and Harrie and all the guests eat together around a large table. We made great friends and had great conversations. I got my PADI Open Water diverslicense at SeaGarden. They had a very experienced instructor who was easy to learn from. I felt very safe. After I got my license I was diving with Harrie. Also with him I felt very safe. Bunaken is a gem. A beautiful little island with very few tourists and still off the beaten track even though it is easy to get there. The airport is in nearby Manado. Sonya and Harrie arranged that we were picked up by a driver who got us on the boat to Bunaken SeaGarden Resort. They also arranged our transport to the airport when we left. One thing is sure, we will be back!…

Short story: Bunaken’s best coral reef is only 120 meters from the Bunaken Sea Garden Resort. The bungalows at the resort are spacious and clean, the food is good, the drinks are cold, and the hosts, Sonia and Harrie, are very friendly and helpful. I can think of no better place to spend a vacation if you want to experience the marine life of a healthy coral reef. Long story: My wife and I visited the Bunaken island 22 years ago and found the coral reefs bursting with life in all shapes and colours. We had never seen anything remotely like it, and we told ourselves that if we one day had children, we would bring them there. This summer we finally came back with our two daughters, now aged 19 and 17. Before going, we were concerned about the health of the coral reefs. We were also afraid that the marine park and the island would be overloaded with tourists. After all, Bunaken is easily accessible from the Manado international airport. Fortunately our fears were ungrounded. The coral reef was as we remembered it 22 years ago, and the island has not been ruined by mass tourism. We chose Bunaken Sea Garden Resort because we wanted a small resort with easy snorkelling access to the coral reefs. The Resort is located on the east side of the island, where the best preserved reefs are. The coral wall is just 120 meters off the shore from the resort, within easy swimming distance. Making up the wall is a variety of corals of different structures and colours. Swimming along, or about the wall are turtles, angel fish, butterfly fish, anemone fish, box fish, puffer fish, moorish idols, damsels, cleaner fish, humpback unicorn fish, surgeon fish, trumpet fish, triggerfish, lion fish, sea snakes, and tuna, just to mention a few species, of which most are represented with a number of subspecies. When not snorkelling or diving we would while away the hours in hammocks outside our bungalows, or chatting with other guests, comparing notes about what species of marine life we had just seen. Our hosts, Harrie and/or Sonia, were always available, and very helpful. We spent nine days at the resort, and could easily have spent nine more. We will definitely return to the Bunaken island, and to Bunaken Sea Garden Resort. Next time we will not wait 22 years.…

We have visited Seagarden 5 times in the last year, and cannot recommend it highly enough! We kept returning because it is a perfect mixture of friendly service, good price, and the amazing location for epic snorkelling! All of the resorts have access to the stunning coral reef that surrounds the island, but most have to get there by boat. Seagarden however, has a 'house reef' that you can swim to from the resort. This makes it perfect for snorkellers like us! We saw lots of turtles, a dugong, and so much coral and fish When you add this to the 3 great meals a day (simple but fresh, well-prepared, and generous), and the hospitable personalities of the owners and staff, the place is unbeatable for people that want to enjoy Bunaken without the expense of the high-end boutique resorts. In summary, we love it, and would recommend it to everyone.…

We stayed for 5 nights at the Sea Garden. The location is perfect, we don't dive and the house reef is ideal for snorkelling with colourful corals and abundant sealife.Sonya and the staff are amazing always helpful and smiling. The food was plentiful and delicious. As we were the only guests staying we spent our evenings at the Deco bar just a 5 minute walk away. Thank you Sonya, Poppy and all the team for a wonderful stay.

My partner and I paid to do our PADI Open Water Courses here, we then did our advanced courses at another dive centre in the Togians who were shocked that we had only done one dive in open water and hadn't been trained properly, there was a huge list of things (including safety measures which are an important part of diving which is a dangerous activity when not done properly) which had been omitted from the compulsory parts of the training which we did with Sonya who also runs the resort. We did most of our training at her friend's pool a short drive away so each missed out on at least three actual dives which were meant to be part of the course we'd paid for. This has been the only bad thing to happen during our trip to Sulawesi, we have really enjoyed everything and everywhere else but this has left us really upset and disappointed and feeling totally ripped off. The resort itself is OK, the rooms and food are fine, the other staff were lovely, and the house reef is nice for snorkeling, although there isn't really anywhere to relax, one hammock for two, one sun lounger for the whole resort, and otherwise some very spiky ground or hard chairs, if there were some beanbags or extra hammocks it would be a nicer place to relax during the day, but I won't be returning, there are other lovely places to stay nearby where they aren't likely to try and scam you or put your safety at risk. Sonya, we're really upset, we thought we had made a friend but it seems we were only a way for you to make some quick money, I'm so disappointed, we could have done some lovely diving together and seem more of the natural beauty of the area, but we won't be coming back again. …

We stayed at the Sea Garden at Bunaken for 3 nights and we really enjoyed it. We were welcomed by Harrie de Jong and the other kind members of the staff and stayed in a charming bungalow with ocean view. The food was plenry and fine and the location of the resort is perfect for snorkling, diving, dolphin tours. Opposite the resort you find the House Reef wich is amazingly beautiful, we snorkled with great pleasure and made 2 beautiful dives. We sure recommand this resort on Bunaken. Michel and Henriette
