Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Some may think that the name of the hotel, its location right before the monasteries pushed me to write what follows. But it's only thanks to Nikolaos and his team. First we arrived very late, around 10PM. Nikolaos, the owner, immediately welcomed us like we were family warning us that his restaurant may close soon in case we were hungry. Intrigued by the lively noise coming from there, we followed his advice and what a tremendous surprise! Food was good, as in many greek tavernas. But the service was truly exceptionnal! As I confessed to him, I've been to many fancy restaurants but never met a crew so passionate about their jobs. They are swift, smiling, caring and remember everything about you. You feel special when being there, and it is not surprising that we came back there the next day and ended up in a bar all together.

The best mousaka & the most comfy bed so far in Greece (our 2nd trip in the country)

Christos & his family are extremely welcoming & it is not a surprise to see their restaurant terrace full every evening.

It is a family business and it shows, the food & ingredients are top noch.

We are staying at the guest house too and the service quality & confort of the room is hard to fault.

Highly recomended! Give it a try, you won't regret it.

The staff from the taverna and hotel are simply the best, they were so kind to me and my sister (11&14). We stayed to visit Meteora and they gave us places to visit/help. The room is beautiful and comfy beds. If you’re looking for a quiet village with many restaurants and view points then this is for you :)

Kind owners, accommodating and friendly service, impeccably clean rooms (the balcony rooms with wonderful views of Meteora). And the attached restaurant is superb (moussaka to die for, but honestly everything is top notch). Highly recommended!

Affordable yet beautifully remodeled rooms and common areas. I’ve stayed at hotels 5x more expensive that are not nearly as nice nor clean.

Very friendly owner and staff. Went out of there way to help.

Affiliated restaurant was good and reasonably priced.

If you are looking for Greek hospitality & friendliness in one of the most magical places in the country then Guest House Plakias is where you should head. Opposite the church & looked down upon by the monastries that tower above, this is the best place to enjoy your stay in Meteora. On my arrival I was immediately welcomed into the family atmosphere & thoroughly enjoyed the excellent food served in the attached tavern - make sure you try the grilled fetta!!. My room had a balcony from where I could look out at the surrounding monoliths, so close that I enjoyed 2 days walking around and up them. Guest House Plakias seemed to be the centre for many of the locals as well which emphasised the community feeling that is so important in this country. I am counting the days until I can go back.

Rooms are spacious and very well maintained. They are just behind the restaurant at the top of town, We were looking at the mountains straight from our window. Staff are helpful. The stay was relaxing and fun at the same time. Having the best restaurant in town (Taverna Gardenia) attached to your accommodation made life great.

We stayed three nights in Kastraki, Kalambaka and although we did not stay at the Plakias for accommodation (had already booked something else), we were fortunate enough to dine there. Nikos and his family (and extended family) were fantastic. Mama's home made cooking was sensational, EVERYONE made our meals there unforgettable, especially the extra inches around the waste. A warm and welcoming family with lots of fun and laughter. Truly went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time dining. Could not recommend highly enough. Thanks Guys - Linda, Janice, Kerrie and Stephen (4 Aussie Travellers)

The accommodation is at the back of the Taverna and is therefore quiet.
The room we had was very spacious and immaculate and had 3 balconies! The bathroom was very clean and spacious too. There was no tea making facilities.
The breakfast was generous and served in the Taverna. The evening meal we had was excellent and we enjoyed the local retsina and red wine, some of which we had free from the very genial hosts. All in all we had a great time and can recommend itwholeheartedly.

Plakias Guesthouse is a real gem that has a family-owned feeling and great location.

The owner Nico is a legend and treats you like a personal guest making you feel welcome and that no request is too much trouble.

The location is great as from Kastraki you can walk directly from your hotel to Meteora walking trails and its less touristy than the main town of Kalambaka.

The rooms were great with cute balconies and clean.

Big thumbs up!
