Stayed here as we were visiting the Kielder Observatory. Had two double rooms for one night. Warm welcome and shown to rooms. They were spacious, basically furnished but everything clean and tidy with good tea/coffe facilities and tv. Bed comfortable and room quiet. Nice evening...More
Called in for a drink on a Saturday night, very quiet and didn't really feel greatly welcomed. Didn't eat there so cannot comment although the menu lat the door indicates not very good for veggies. Not a particularly good range of beers. Nothing local.
We travelled north to Newcastleton for Sunday lunch/ The Grapes was a welcoming hotel, and we are attended to promptly, then ate a good meal in the attractive restaurant. The liver pate was excellent. Seafood platters followed, and our vegetarian friend settled for garlic mushrooms...More
Just went to eat there as recommended by our B & B patrons, service was better than we would expect and the food excellent. I had the battered haddock which I would highly recommend. All the prices seemed reasonable.
We stayed at the grapes for two nights 2nd year running,on our way to the highlands,it's comfortable the food is typical pub grub & nice.the pub/hotel is quaint & there's plenty of walking & mountain biking to be done all from the hotel
