Well situated hotel with views over the bay and upto Ibiza town. 40 min walk to the town itself. Hotel was very clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Pool by the sea was great. Gym are reasonably well equipped. Had Buffett evening meal in the restaurant which offered lots of choice and good value for money. Good walking out of Ibiza along the coast. Would go back again as a solo female traveller to this hotel. Quiet sat on the restaurant/ bar balcony watching the world go by and enjoying the far off lights of Ibiza town.

Stayed at Simbad for a long weekend in a single room. The room itself was ok and clean, however the aircon is poor and limited so takes a long time to cool the room down. The Wi-Fi in the rooms and hotel in general is really poor, kept disconnecting and very slow. For the cost which was over £200 per night you would expect these basics to work seamlessly but they didn’t. On the plus side the staff were very nice and they weren’t banging on my door at check out time.

In spite of having a dreadful name this hotel was far better than expectations, and was cheap for peak summer ibiza. The rooms are compact but very modern and nice, decent quality bathroom products. The pool is a reasonable size but a bit ugly, they could improve it massively by putting some plants there. The pool is unheated and deep so is quite cold. The restaurant serves appalling food and the waiters there are incredibly rude to non-spanish guests. Paying 10 euros for a frozen 1 eur pizza is not acceptable in this day and age! Few speak any English. Lot's of spanish locals (i.e. non guests) also use the pool and go unchallenged. Not acceptable for them to be taking up sun loungers when they don't even stay there. Fix the restaurant and make the pool require keycard access and this would be a good hotel. It is quite isolated and quiet (read dull) not a place for partiers.

Dear Bizzle101, Thank you for your review. It's great to hear that the hotel exceeded your expectations. You probably don't know it, but this hotel has been part of the history of Ibiza for many years. Ibiza has always been a land of sailors and a way to keep this connection alive was by naming the hotel after one of the most famous sailors that ever existed. The rooms were recently renovated, we're glad you felt comfortable. The swimming pool is next on our renovation projects list, as we are a small hotel and we cannot do it all at once. It is also located on a public space and a number of visitors is usually from outside the hotel. As you may know, July and August are the busiest months and you may encounter people everywhere. Apologies for any inconvenience in this regard. One of the aspects our guests value the most is that this is a quiet space, where they can relax and be away from their busy lives for some days. We want to respect this, but it doesn't mean it is dull. Thanks again for your review and best regards, Hotel Simbad Team

The hotel itself is nice. The staff are friendly and the food (breakfast) was generally good. We did have a lunch once but the youngest child’s pizza took over an hour to arrive, despite several enquiries to its whereabouts? The hotel I have scored a 3 which is more down to the business practice of the hotel. We arrived late on night 1 and thought we’d paid for a sea view room. Realising we hadn’t (our fault) I asked to upgrade, the hotel could accommodate this and wanted €50 per night. Fine and acceptable but considering we were there really late the first night a bit of flexibility on reducing the first night rate would have been a nice thing to do. At the end of the trip I was advised to call by reception on the last day to ask about a late check out. I was advised they could offer me until 2pm for free or €15 per hour for extra hours after 2pm. I wanted to vacate at 6pm. On the last day a different staff member told me that I can have the room for free until 2pm but if I wanted it longer id have to pay from 12pm?! Doesn’t seem right if they are willing to give it for free until 2pm and considering another staff member had advised differently! I was also told the sea view room was not available at all to extend. Fortunately we had 2 rooms so I paid the hotel another €90 to keep the none sea view room. In summary, nice hotel and would have rated it higher if they did not make me feel like there were just wanting to maximise the money they could take from me. 🙁

Dear 915jono, Thank you for reviewing your stay with us. We are very sorry to know you felt that way and we are truly sorry. Clearly there was a miscommunication between the members of our front desk staff that led to you getting different information. We always ask our guests to request the late check-out on the last day of their stay, as we will be able to confirm based on availability that day, and late check-out starts from 12 pm. Please, accept our sincerest apologies for the mistake, we hope you enjoyed the rest of your stay and hopefully you will decide to give us a second chance and return for a truly unforgettable experience with your family. Thanks again and best regards, Hotel Simbad Team

We stayed at this hotel for one night, it was arranged at short notice when our flight was cancelled. On arrival we thought we had been incredibly lucky to land in this beautiful place. It smells amazing and it looks fantastic, but then we encountered the staff and things went downhill. The reception staff member who checked us in appeared to have no empathy for our situation and was not particularly helpful or kind to us. We went to our room, it was spotless and very comfortable. The view was stunning. We showered and quickly changed for dinner and went to the dining room. The lady there was helpful and showed me the dishes I could eat as I have a shellfish allergy. There was a man working in the dining room who did not appear happy we were there, and switched off the heat lamps whilst we were still eating from the buffet despite us being there before the end of service. He was quite rude to us, and we heard the next day he was awful to others who had to stay here from the same flight as us. The following day at breakfast was very similar. We felt quite unwelcome at this hotel and heard staff calling us the "cancelled flight people" and treating us like second class citizens. The views outside are impressive, we took a lovely walk. The common areas and the room we stayed in were really nice, the only thing stopping me from recommending this place to anyone, ever would be the staff with the exception of the lady who worked the night we arrived, and everyone we encountered at the bar. These people were perfectly pleasant and welcoming, and their colleagues would do well to learn from them to avoid more reviews like this in the future.

Thank you for reviewing your stay, jonmelon91. We are truly sorry to read your comments, as our team are often praised for their helpfulness and friendliness. Many of our guests have been returning specifically because of them and even first-time guests are always thankful for their assistance. In any case, your comments will be passed on to the department managers so they are aware of it. We welcome passengers from cancelled flights all the time and we know it's not a pleasant situation at all, that is why under no circumstances would we want anyone to feel like a "second-class citizen", as you said. On the contrary, to us, everyone who walks through our door is treated equally and with respect. On the other hand, we're happy you enjoyed the hotel itself and hope you may consider returning to give us the opportunity to offer you a truly memorable experience, like we've done with so many other guests. Thanks and best regards, Hotel Simbad Team

This hotel is barely a 3 star…food was limited and tasteless, drinks were poor too. On the face of it the hotel has had a bit of a facelift however the amenities are poor. It’s such a shame as the location and views are stunning. The pool area is very crowded and my goodness the smell of sewerage was eye watering. There is definitely an odd vibe in the air at this hotel, I didn’t feel particularly safe or settled here. We luckily only stayed here for one night and it’s safe to say we won’t ever return. There are much better 4* hotels in this area.

Everything about Hotel Simbad is excellent! This is my second visit and all the staff are simply wonderful, so attentive and aware of what their guests need. I will keep returning for their excellent service and gorgeous accommodation. I also love the location, right by a quiet beach, yet with the option of a pool. It’s the perfect t mix for me and my friends 😊

The hotel is very nice and the room was clean and modern. We loved that the tv had chrome cast functionality. We were sad we didn’t have a sea facing room - I think it would be a 5/5 if we did as the view is amazing. The pool was great and kept really clean. The bar staff were friendly too, even if the bar a tiny bit overpriced. There was a bit of confusion when returning towels to return our deposit as you needed to keep a bit of paper that no one informed us of. Would have loved the restaurant/bar to have casual food options for around the pool in the day.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review your stay with us, H0310! We appreciate your comments about the room and its cleanliness, our cleaning team will be glad to read them! Booking a sea facing room definitely makes all the difference, changing sides is also possible upon check-in, but rooms are not always available. Apologies for any misunderstanding regarding the towel deposit, the piece of paper is important to match the deposit to your room number. Unfortunately, food is not allowed in the pool area, but our bar terrace has a fantastic vibe and views and also casual food options for all tastes. Hopefully we'll see you again soon! Best regards, Hotel Simbad Team

Arrival and check in ok Went to room, no soap in either dispenser and one broken. Informed reception who said they’d sort asap. Next morning still not done. Also a condom was stuck on the smoke detector, told reception twice and again on check out, was never removed or cleaned. The spa had no control over it and where you would normally expect a bit of peace and quiet was full of noisy splashing kids, left alone whilst parents were in the sauna. Water pressure in shower also bad and temperature kept changing on its own, from freezing cold to scolding hot.

The hotel entrance is located in a narrow street. We received a very nice welcome. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable and the balcony with a beautiful view. The bathroom is good but had no shampoo and had paper cups rather than glasses. There is an electric kettle with free instant coffee and tea bags. Personnel is extremely friendly and helpful at the front desk, bar and restaurant. An issue with the phone not working was quickly resolved. Breakfast has a large variety of items of very good quality plus someone preparing eggs. I strongly discourage using the button operated coffee machine. The capuccino had a horrible, sweet taste and plain coffee was not good either. Instead I suggest using the other coffee machine with pods. The hotel is walking distance from several restaurants.
