Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great little park that’s tucked away, very friendly staff, clean amenities and the camp kitchen is small and well equiped. Walk to the beach, restaurants and cafes or catch the train into the city. Highly recommended

Stayed here for convinient pick up from family from overseas arriving by aircraft. The park is basic but amenities are clean. People very friendly and helpful. Access to Sydney CBD very easy by public transport. Bus 5 minutes walk and to the trains 15 minutes walk. For our next visit to Sydney with our motorhome we will defenetly stay here again.

Spent 3 nights here with my wife in a small camper van. Paula the manager could not have been more helpful. Friendly and full of advise on where to go and what to do. Made us feel right at home. 15 minute walk to the train station and 30 minute train ride takes you to central Sydney. Had a really enjoyable stay. Matt and Celia Cape Town.

Excellent Van accommodation not far from Sydney CBD. Margaret and Mark (Hosts) were extremely obliging with advice and tips to make our holiday more memorable. Very clean bathroom and facilities, all other guests were friendly and welcoming. Being so close to everything in Sydney, the rates were unbeatable. Good old fashioned park! We will always use Sheralee when in Sydney.

Male staff assumes a female can't reverse park a caravan so be aware of that. (ie. we can, and would rather just do it ourselves because we know what we are doing without someone confusing us and not even telling us where we are going. So next time, if someone needs help, wait for them to ask!) Left a terrible first impression. Then add, on our 1st night staying here, kids were scared awake in the middle of the night because of loud, very vocal, drunk Irish tourists who think Australians are “racist” because they were refused more drinks in a bar. 1. You can’t be racist against your own race and 2. It’s the law and you’re in our country. We don’t care if you’ll “never be back”. I bring this up because they were allowed to stay, anywhere else and they’d have been told to leave.

This park’s location is perfect for exploring Sydney.

Best of all, the loveliest lady, Margaret checked us in and she had so many great tips about where to go, what to see and how to get there!

The facilities were clean and comfortable. We actually ended up staying an extra 4 days because we were happy with the site & fantastic service.

Rude on the phone, rude greeting, terrible spot, tiny and rocky, stinky, updated amenities were the strong point. Couldn't stay more than a night. Waayyy over priced. Paid $45 for this below average campground. Would not go again and will tell friends to steer clear until the place is upgraded somehow.

I needed a place to stay close to the city so I camped at Sheralee over 2 nights. Sheralee is a great location close to shops, transport and major city attractions. There are really good bike paths nearby that take you along the Cooks river and Botany Bay as well as taking you safely into the city.

The park has a camp kitchen, good amenity block and the locals in the park are friendly. The managers, Dave and Paula are very friendly and helpful. I will come back again. If you want to stay close to Sydney and visit local attractions this is the place or if you have to work in Sydney but don't want to stay in a boxy hotel room then come to Sheralee.

- [ ] Avoid avoid avoid where possible. We were greeted by a ‘what do you want’ to set the tone of our experience here. The man in the main office was what can only be described as rude grumpy old man. We where asking a few questions before booking a camping space in regards to the local area and WiFi etc. To which he responded to ‘I don’t care if you stay, pay or get out’. Where we were taken aback we wanted to stay due the location. However on paying he refused to take card as it would ‘cost him too much’. It was at this point we gave up and found another campsite. Please avoid unless your in the mood to be shouted at for no particular reason, be insulted and feel most unwelcome.

Response from Lois M, Manager at Sheralee Tourist Caravan Park
Responded 28 Mar 2018
Hi Grant, the gentleman you met has much experience in the tourism industry and ALWAYS greets campers with "how can I help you?" The response from campers is that they want a site and his next question is "what do you want" (powered or unpowered?). I think maybe there was some confusion over this question and the timing of it. We apologise if you felt offended. As I understand it you wished an unpowered site for one night at a charge of $35. You did look around the Site and asked a great deal of questions all of which were answered. You then decided to book in but the two of you wished to pay separately ($17.50 each) on credit cards. We have the cheapest rates for a Park so close to Sydney. We also absorb credit card costs rather than passing them on to our customers. But we are not prepared to absorb 2 sets of those costs for a $35 payment. Normally we suggest one person pays and the other reimburses their friend or partner but in this case it was felt you would not be amenable to this suggestion.

Having decided that camping was they way to go for the family visit to Sydney, the options for choice of caravan parks within 20kms of the Sydney CBD is minimal. The Sheralee is the only caravan park south of the Harbour Bridge within the 20km radius. The powered site was relatively level and the tent marked our spot for the duration of the stay. The camping fees are good value for money when the high cost of other accommodation services in Sydney is taken into account.

"Camp sites are to the right (when entering), we thought they were plain, though nice...and are all near the amenities block."
