Lovely place, beautifully decorated but food was very average.
first the canapes - stall go to the same people all the time leaving other with nothing. train them to mingle in different directions. the reception centre looked lovely but the food was disappointing. main of beef which was stringly and grisly or chicken which was way too large for a polite serving. the sweets of chocolate cake which was too rich for anyone at my table to eat or some roulade of indescribable content. no one quite knew what is was. service was good for experience pretty average.

I'm sure many potential holiday makers have driven past Norwood House Receptions and either not noticed it, or considered it a reception venue only. That is their loss. Behind the reception area is a motel block respendant with collonade along the front making an impressive first impression. Don't get me wrong, some maintenance work needs to be done but the bones of the facility are all good, and the new owners know what needs to be done. Inside however the room was excellent, with a king bed and a king single, the most comfortable since my favoured Sheraton Hotel beds. The room was spotless and the price affordable. Special mention must go to the manager, Laurie, who went out of his way to ensure we had everything we needed. Important after day surgery at a nearby private hospital. Opt for one of his home cooked breakfasts for a special treat. We randomly chose to stay here due to its convenient location, close to all that Mornington offers. Our random choice turned out to be first prize in the lucky dip. We look forward to returning in coming months and to see the new owners plans develop into fruition.

The drive into the facility promised great things to come. The reception by Ida was fantastic as she was really friendly and informative.
I was booked for the “honeymoon suite” although I was by myself and long-married but the idea of a suite was terrific.
The suite was okay but needs work. Paint peeling on the stairs was a sign of things to come. The curtains are great but very hard to move, so either hot or early morning light! I have not seen a rotary dial on a microwave for about 40 years so suggest that a new one might be a good idea, even though it worked.
A suggestion for lighting-makeup, especially in the honeymoon suite is generally applied under good lighting- please fix!

The Bed was amazing, thank you for 2 great nights sleep.
If you stay during the week, do no expect that either the bar or the restaurant to be open so travel with what you need .

I'm not generally a picky person but I was disappointed with this overnight stay. Aside from the price was at the high end of local motels, the quality of the room was disappointing. I booked a 'King bedroom with spa' - the four poster bed was only a queen size. Seems we were upgraded! it is on the ground floor with another room above. Those folk played music until midnight and the noise of them walking around came through like a stampeding herd!
Aside from that the toilet seat was loose, the sofa bed/couch in the small sitting room, was too uncomfortable to sit on, cobwebs abound, fittings missing and the room is located next to the busy highway. Bed was firm.

We regret that you were disappointed with your stay, as most would have been avoided by contacting us. A call to the Night Manager for instance - would have put an end to any disturbances from other guests. Our Receptionist upgraded you, at no extra charge, to the Romantic Spa Suite, which given your very mature age, was probably not the best idea - but you then declined the offer, to be accommodated in the original room you booked. We assisted you to log into our free WiFi which you used next morning to post this review. We respond & take action with matters raised in every review - and whilst you say you are not a picky person - we found little or no substance in anything else. We wish you well with your travels elsewhere. If you have any problems with any of your future stays - always contact the accommodation-provider - they work very hard in an effort to make your stay, as enjoyable as possible. Good Luck!, Christopher

Wow wow wow. What can one really say.

We were in Melbourne last Nov in 2022. This was on top of my preference list but could not get in at the time. Very dissapointed.

Surpringly on this trip for Family Committments and sadly a funeral Norwood House popped up at the top of my list. Delighted I was able to book in.

Our stay at Norwood House was most memorable. The owner, Laurier made us feel most welcome. Nothing was too much to ask for, most accommodating
As we had missed lunch due to many prior circumstances. Laurier accommodated us with a very delicious omelette. What a wonderful man.

We were also privee to meet the premise Manager Ravi and his family.

Our room was most accommodating with all the facilities we required and needed. The premises and spaces around Norwood House are just beautiful and Tranquil.gorgeous spaces to just sit and be.

I would highly recommend a stay there on your next visit to the Mornington Peninsula. You will be very delighted.

Laurier and staff are in the process of updating some areas, as they have taken over in the past twelve months.

We really look forward to returning to Norwood House and seeing the upgrades and spending more time there to catch our breath.

Thank you and with our uttmost gratitude to you all for making our stay extra special and most memorable.

Grazie. Laurier,Navi and Sara

Stayed for a night. Have to say it was very clean and the bed was comfy (I love a firm bed…others may not) Most disappointed with this place, which really needs a good upgrade. Looks great in the photos but reality is a bit different. Bathroom was so tiny I had to turn sideways to get past the sink to the toilet! Although it had dispensers of shampoo, conditioner and soap, there were no lotions and no shower cap. Furnished with a mix of cheap flat pack furniture. Considering the price, and where it’s located…I would have expected higher quality.

The spa was stained, didn,t drain, had black dirt and hair in the plug hole. Furniture in front of light switches, dirty window sills, inground stains on bathroom floor, filthy floormat at entrance covered in dirt. No safety rails in the spa,no outside lights for safety. The owner did refund us for one night after complaining and admitted it was below standard. l hope he follows up with getting all the problems fixed. Ask to see your room first ours was nothing like the photos and at $340 for 2 nights way over priced

When we walked into the room all we could smell was mould and like the room hadnt been aired out in weeks. We had to leave the windows and doors open to make our stay in the room bearable. The window seal on top of the bed had not been cleaned and was full of dust including the room it was very dusty.
The kitchen area needs to be updated itlooks out of place compared to the renovated bathroom area. The spa was nice and worked well. The toilet has no door. Overall would not return.

For 165 dollars per night, you too can stay in ant town.
This hotel, while lovely on the outside harboured many ants during our stay.

Bathroom ants
Microwave ants,
Kettle ants,
Bed ants. Yes, you will have the privilege of sharing your bed with them too.

The rest of the room was acceptable, featuring a comfortable bed, a bathroom of only slight labyrinthian tendencies reminiscent of the long, frightening corridors from The Shining, and a shower curtain that inexplicably did not reach all the way down. Adding to the mild ablution frustrations was a toilet seat that refused to stay up, leading to some amazing water-sausage multitasking.

Since it was New Year's Eve, we had brought some champagne and food with us and left it in the bar fridge to cool down around 2pm while we went off the the nearby beach. This hotel has a good location, so it has that going for it, which is nice.

Unfortunately upon coming back in to drink it 10 minutes before midnight, we found out the refrigerator was not at all working, so the champagne had unfortunately, become acquainted with room temperature, leaving us to chill with the food, which was also quietly spoiling.

For 165 dollars, you too can troubleshoot a fridge at 10 minutes before 2017, and find that it had been unplugged by previous users or housekeeping. Like an old sailor staggering in his drunken stupor outside the drinkery behind his favourite anchorage, this cooler was expelling liquids out of its front end as ice that had been built up in its insides was liquefying.

Wanting to signal reception because we were getting antsy of sleeping with our new formic friends, we picked up the room phone, only to find a dead line that led nowhere.

Counting down the seconds before midnight was an interesting exercise in trying to match the number of hexapods roaming in our immediate vicinity.

Raised those concerns with management the following day upon checkout and were met with mild disbelief at the situation. Having given them enough time to assess it for themselves, from which no sign of six-legged mattress pioneers were allegedly detected, we were subsequently offered a discount for future stays. Since we only plan to sleep with arthropods only once, we declined the offer, and insisted on a discount for the night we already spent which was unsurprisingly met with a firm refusal.

In summary, this hotel would have been satisfactory, had it not bugged us with the high price of 165 dollars which includes the entitlement of an illusory icebox, a phony phone and being a featured character in a Bug's Life.

Dear guest, thanks for your report - read & enjoyed by all of the staff. Water spilled from the fridge when you removed it from the cabinet - the door was swollen; damaged, and had to be removed. This was the same water that attracted the ants to come in from the extreme heat outside, that night. Despite doing very little wrong, we made a goodwill gesture the following morning which you refused. We wish you well with your future travels elsewhere.
