I stayed for 3 nights and it was a good time in Asakusa Ryokan Toukaiso. Hotel is located near tawaramachi station just 5 minutes walk and 10 minutes to Sensoji Temple. Staffs are very friendly and nice. I would choose this hotel again if I go to Tokyo

I stayed for the night in Asakusa Ryokan Toukaiso and it was very comfortable. The staff who greeted me was accommodating and gave me tips and brochures on how to get around Tokyo, and some restaurants nearby where I could grab dinner. The room is small but they would provide you all the amenities you would need. They have comfortable...

The Toukaiso is in Asakusa area, not far from the interesting spots. I had a single room with futons. It was very confy, cheap and wide enough to spend more than 1 week in Tokyo. Convenient for friends, couple, single person. I also tried a shared room, also confy. The hostel is very clean, staff is adorable and speak english...

Excellent location, now that the Access Express runs direct from the airport to Asakusa. There are many cheap restaurants, and supermarkets nearby. Usual very small rooms, very well equipped. Quiet. The only minus is that the window gave directly into a wall, but it'sTokyo. A pity similar deals are not on offer in New York, Paris, London, ... I stayed...

Nice location in Asakusa, very convenient as it is close to the metro station (Tawaramachi station, Ginza line) and the Sensoji temple. Some nice restaurants are nearby. Rooms are small but very clean and cosy, with wi-fi and air condition, the staff were friendly and helpful. It is very close to both 7- Eleven and Family Mart where you can...

Great staff, very friendly and helpful. Rooms basic, but clean and secure. Toilet a little cramped, but that is part of the true Japanese experience. Close to shops and transport. Quiet location and close to Sensoji temple complex.

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
