We were traveling as a group of 5 and spent five nights here while visiting Tokyo. We reserved a private room and got a room with 6 beds (3 bunk beds). The room itself was small but comfortable. Each bunk had its own curtain for privacy and there were individual lockers to store personal items. Each floor of the building...

Such a nice experience staying here in asakusa at Sakura hostel. Very friendly people and great staff. Good organised activities and amazingly clean. All the facilities you could require. Quiet and comfortable rooms. Also a really nice part of tokyo in the old traditional district. Good connections with metro line subways. Was only going to stay 3 days but stayed...

Basic facilities done with style. Washing facilities, simple breakfast available for purchase, helpful staff, relatively quiet, includes people of all ages, so very inclusive. Rooms are basic with shared bathroom with bunk beds, but we hired the whole room of four bunks for a family of three. Bring your own towel or hire, there are drinks and food available for...

We visited in a group of 6, so the dorms were a perfect and more importantly inexpensive option for us. The accommodation was cheap and functional, perfect for the short duration we were staying, as we only needed somewhere to sleep and shower. Great location as it's right near the Senso-ji temple, and near main transport links. Tip: if you...

I suppose the biggest pull of Sakura Hostel is the fact that it's right in the touristy area of Senso-ji Temple. However, the funky smell of the lobby/common area, the weird power outlets (attached upside down from the bed lamps), and the pathetic "included breakfast" of hot water, toast, and jam just do not cut it. There are so many...

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
