First, this place has just a superb location. About a 3-5 min walk to Asakusa subway station (which is also a station on the Keisei Sky Access Express, making it easy to get there from Narita. It's right in the heart of Asakusa, on a side street off of the main walking street. A 3 minute walk to Senso temple....

Stayed in this ryokan with my family in November 2016. This was our first time staying in a ryokan with floor mattresses and tatami mats. Sleeping on the floor was actually very comfortable. The rooms were a decent size and there was a private bathroom. There were a couple of minor issues with the room (one heater didn't work, remote...

Extremely well located in Asakusa. Able to go to Sensoji early in morning / after dinner so as to beat the crowd. Wonderful Japanese rooms with comfy futon. Very friendly staff. We had a shower after arriving in morning (before room was ready to checkin) Great Japanese bath on Level 1. Able to use as a family altogether. Cannot comment...

Stayed here a little less than a week. Because of family issues we had to leave earlier. Even though we left all by sudden we got our money back for the days we didn't stay. The rooms are beautiful, comfy beds with delicious tee. It's really close to both the best sites of Asakusa and the metro station. Friendly and...

A must (albeit quite expensive) experience for the ones who would like to take a bath like a japanese (onsen) and sleep on floor mats (futton). The hotel is of boutique type, quite small, but cozy. It is also very well located, with many touristox attractions within walking distance.

We recently enjoyed our third stay at this wonderful Ryokan, and every time we visit Tokyo we make plans to stay in Asakusa and this Ryokan. The rooms are spotless and very comfortable - the futons are more comfortable than many hotel beds. The breakfast served in the morning is delicious - do try the Japanese breakfast. Our 9 year...

My wife, 6 y.o. daughter, and 16 y.o. niece greatly enjoyed our 9 night stay in a deluxe, Japanese-style room last month. The ryokan staff were very friendly and accommodating. The four of us loved our delicious Japanese breakfasts in the relaxing coffee shop downstairs. The ryokan is ideally situated for exploring Tokyo, as multiple lines serve Asakusa Station, location...

We spent our entire two weeks using Ryokan Kamogawa as our home in Tokyo. We didn't regret the decision one bit. It's a short 8 minute walk to Asakusa station which gave us instant access to anywhere we needed to go. It's also surrounded by wonderful food and shopping with a Don Quijote just a few blocks away if you...

This was our first stay in Tokyo and we were very happy with our choice - great location - near Asakusa subway - and close to several attractions you could reach on foot. This is a small Kyokan ( must be only about a dozen rooms) - rooms were very traditional with futon mats on the floor for beds. There...

Thank you for such a nice review. We are so happy to hear that you could enjoy our hotel. Especially the Large private bate is a “must” facility in the Hotel. And the temperature of the bath is changeable. We are hoping to see you again.

This ryokan tucked away on a side alley is well kept. Rooms are small but adequate and not all ryokan traditions observed (eg street shoes worn inside). Breakfast is excellent (both Japanese and American), English language newspapers are provided and staff is helpful. Many inexpensive restaurants nearby. This is an excellent choice for this area.

Thank you for staying with us and posting a good review. Instead of putting on/off the shoes at our entrance as a traditional way of ryokan, each guest room has a small entrance to put on/off the shoes like Japanese houses. We wish our building were large enough for every guests. We are looking forward to welcoming you again someday....

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
