I first experienced this hotel during my first trip in Japan in 2012 and it then became a must halt place for me while in Tokyo. Good prices, confort and smiling hosts. Furthermore, good situation (not far from the center and close to station (Hybia line)). Highly recommend this place to people aiming to enjoy Tokyo as backpackers.

The more I travel, the more I know what sort of things I really appreciate, as opposed to simply being extra frills at an extra cost. This hotel has everything essential you need, without raising the prices to pay for needless extras. Clean, quiet and private personal rooms? Check. 24 hour bathrooms and pristine showers? Check. Strong wifi on every...

The hostel is located reasonably close to a JR station and the value for money is unbeatable! The staff is AMAZING! Nancy is great and Nanako is simply the loveliest staff member I have ever met! Thanks!! This has been a wonderful stay and I will definitely book a room here again the next time I am in Tokyo!!

Juyoh Hotel is a really good hostel. Probably the best one I stayed in during my 2 weeks in Japan. One baffling incident is making me give it a negative review. When I learnt I was set to arrive a day early there (a week prior) I made another reservation for that night via booking.com. Upon arrival the lady at...

I have been staying at Juyoh hotel over 5 times in the recent years and that hotel is really convenient if you plan to visit or stay in Tokyo without costing an arm. The hotel is located at about 10 minutes walk from Minami-senju station (Hibiya line of Tokyo metro). That station is itself 4 stations away from Ueno Station...

I stayed here for two nights for a weekend city trip in Tokyo. Our flight arrives late at 11:30pm due to a small delay. Late check-in is available for an additional fee but it was supposed to close at midnight. Hotel staff was kind enough to wait till I arrive. Hotel staff offers good service and they can speak basic...

Just a few minutes walk away from Minami Senju station. Clean place for a tatami accommodation. Staffs are very helpful giving directions on your DIY trips. There are even directions posted on their bulletin board for basic destinations such as from their hotel to Shibuya of which trains to take. They have clean sheets, toilets and bath rooms. But bathrooms...

For the price this is perfect- you get a small private room with a tv, a futon, some shelving and a heater/air con you can operate yourself. The toilets and washing facilities are shared. Being used to super sociable hostels I found this place a little more quiet, but there was lots to keep me occupied like a games console...

Juyoh is very clean and foreigner-friendly. I would guess that most of the folks staying here are students and/or backpackers, predominantly from Western countries. Bathrooms and showers are shared, but you have individual privacy. I happened to get a double, which was the only room available, and later moved to a single, so here is the difference. The double has...

I enjoyed very much the Japanese style (with tatami) at Juyoh. The shared facilities were also better than expected with several showers, restrooms a common kitchen and a few washing/dryer machines (coins) available to guests. The location is also OK with several 7/11 nearby and 10 minutes walking from the metro/JR lines.

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
