My wife and I spent a week here during our first visit to Japan. The reception was respectful and polite. While some didn't speak perfect English, we were able to understand and communicate. We had our luggage shipped to the hotel from Haneda airport via JAL ABC, and they held on to it until we arrived. (Our flight arrived around...

I went to Tokyo for an intense week of sighseeing. This hotel turned out to be a perfect choice for our needs. The breakfast was proper and kept us full for many hours. There is also a fantastic shuttle service to Ueno train station. I recommend this location.

I stayed with my wife. We were looking for decent hotel at Asakusa. Most of the hotels were fully booked and honestly this hotel wasn't our first choice but turn out to be great. It will be a bit of walk from Asakusa main street but it is all good after all. Staffs were very nice as well. I guess...

I had a stay for 2 days and it was very smooth. The staff personally was not much interactive but they try to facilitate you to fullest whenever asked for. The rooms are clean and comfortable. However as a Muslim you need to look after your meal choices in there - their breakfast actually give much option in the meal...

Stayed here for 2 nights. Located about 5 mins walk from Asakusa Tsukuba Express Line, about 10 mins walk from Iriya metro station, 13 mins from Tawaramachi metro station. Convenience store and restaurants are within walking distance. Check-in time was 4pm, a bit late compare to others. Check-in was fast, and the staffs were friendly. The room was small, a...

Have been staying at Toyoko Inn for the last two trips to Japan and one of the best hotel I've stayed so far. Rooms are small and cozy but the best part is the location. Close to the Sky Tree and the Sensoji temple with a lot of great places to eat nearby with a quiet yet lively neighbourhood. Additionally...

My family and I began our trip in Japan with our 4 night stay here. Excellent amenities (nightshirts/toothbrushes/razors, etc.). Our stay included breakfast which was filling and tasty. Most importantly, the women who ran the kitchen were fantastic with my 19 year old son who has severe food allergies to fish/shellfish/nuts. They pointed out what he could and couldn't eat...

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
