Where to begin - this place is lovely. It so reflects Tokyo and Japan: simple, all the right details and unlike what you'd expect. Stayed in a double with a riverview. It was really nice. VERY simple, but it was nice. Shower areas and bathroom are shared with the floor. The showers and toilets have a lot of privacy and...

Super Awesome. Nui Hostel is by far the best hostel I have ever stayed in, every single staff member is extremely helpful and provides amazing customer service. This place is a perfect place to unwind after a long day of sight seeing. Very close to two main train lines and many landmarks. I highly recommend this place to anyone going...

This hostel is excellent, it has a bar downstairs so you don't have to go far to socialize. People are friendly. Staff could improve in the checking in process and be more helpful. Common bathroom is very clean. Nice innovations with the keys to the room, and a little curtain for privacy for the bunk beds. The room i stayed...

The atmosphere of this place is amazing, staff were awesome and coffee were beyond great. Literally comes back to this place every single time i visit tokyo. Tokyo tower view and Asakusa within walking distance. Pro tip for travellers, there's an amazing pasta shop just across the street.

NUI Hostel is great for people who want to see Tokyo on a budget. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly, and the kitchens are well furnished with a lot of ingredients and cookware; only downside is that there isn't free breakfast. Their 200 yen/day luggage holding service is amazing for those who are going to travel to other parts...

I was so glad I chose to stay away from the bustling side of Tokyo (Shibuya, Harajuku, Shinjuku, Ginza etc). The hostel is easily accessible via the subway (alight at Asakusa, also a direct train from Narita airport). The hostel is absolutely lovely with a bar on the ground floor, with well-equipped amenities and with the price you pay, I...

I booked my stay Nui purely because its high ranking on TripAdvisor. After staying there three nights, I feel like most reviewers, and myself, were wrongly focused on its coolness and looks. There's nothing really wrong with this hostel per se, but just make sure it's the hostel experience you're looking for. Stay at Nui if you like the look...

Stayed there twice! once solo and recently with 4 friends in one dorm that fits 8 pax for 8 nights. We made multiple bookings since we kept adding more people and more days to the trip but the staff at Nui were accomodating and they simplified everything so we could all stay together in the same dorm for the whole...

1F common area is filled with smoke smell elevator stopped operating after 24:00 ( you can only climb those terrifying stairs) not well-sound proofed In the dormitory, there's not much space for your belongings. And there's no locker for your stuff so you can only keep things on your bed to keep them safe while you sleep, not so secured....

Stayed here for 3 nights during our first ever visit to Tokyo this July and was really impressed. We found out about the hostel through an article in The Guardian travel section and decided to stay here off the back of that. Really easy to get to from Haneda airport, reasonably quiet location for a good nights sleep, very close...

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
