Location is really great - situated just a few walks from commercial area where there are lots of place to eat, mall and market to shop while on the other side there's a 24 hour convenient store and a quiet area for a night walks. Also very near to subway and train stations. We chose the japanese style room and...

For a private room and bathroom this is great value for money in a pricey city. Good spot for food near ramen shops and 24hr convenience stores, ueno train station 15 min walk, subway station only a few minutes walk away. Helpful English speaking reception and quiet at night with fast free wifi. 200 yen to wash clothes in coin...

It is located in a quiet area of Ueno, 4 minutes from the Okachimachi Train Station and 70m from Yushima Subway Station. The reception is located on the 4th floor. I booked a room with three beds and we were two people (only one available room) with bathroom inside. The room was big in comparison with other hotels (and hostels)...

If you want to save on accommodation costs but still be in a fantastic location, this is the place to stay! Right near Akihabara shopping area, close to train station. Basic bedding and amentities, but for what you pay...... Sheets very clean, bedcovers not so. Window no opening, so it gets a bit stifling in the room overnight. Bathroom extreme...

Thank you for your stay. You can open the window to get the fresh air though you cannot open all for the safety for children. It would be appreciated if you can understand the situation.

I really liked staying at this hostel because the staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms clean, there was a nice room to hang out and the location was quite good (close to several subways, lots of restaurants and a beautiful park). However, I found the beds very uncomfortable (extremely thin mattresses), but it is ok for a couple of...

Stayed 4 days and 3 nights with my older sister. People at the lobby are very nice and can speak english so no problem with communication, walking distance from the train stations, comfy rooms and lounge. You can really have your own privacy! 😊

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.

“If you book a room for 3 people you will more likely than not get a 4 bedroom room, which allows you to have more room to spread out. :)”

“Reception is on the 4th floor and the lounge is on the 7th floor. We were on the 8th floor so our wifi worked well from our room but it's intended to just cover the lounge area. See if you can get a room close to there if you need wifi.”
