As far as budget accommodation goes, this hotel was a fantastic find. The staff were incredibly accommodating and provided the type of service that one would expect from one of the more expensive hotels in Tokyo. In my experience I found most of the reviews on Trip Advisor to be accurate and only have one more thing to add: There...

This hotel is well located just a short walk away from the Asakusa-bashi JR station. The staff are polite and have a good standard of English for the international traveller. The rooms are clean and well presented. The beds are very good with memory foam pillows. The bathrooms are small, inline with most Japanese hotel bathrooms I have seen. Space...

I won't repeat other reviewers' comments and concur that this is a great hotel. I want to note that I discovered a nearby restaurant/bar that served the best dinner that was the highlight of my week in Japan. Their specialty is barbecue pork, or buta. The meat is excellently flavored and perfectly cooked. The restaurant staff is funny. Importantly, the...

Location The hotel is located a few minutes walk away from the JR (Asakusabashi Station - West Exit) and Tokyo Metro (A16 Asakusabashi). Travelling to Asakusa and Skytree is very convenient with a 5-10 minutes subway ride. Shinjuku/Shibuya is 20-30 minutes away by JR. Booking Booking was done through their website. Had some problem with inputting my phone number but...

Location The hotel is located a mere 2 mins walk from Asakusabashi JR Sobu line which is a very convenient line to visit other attractions, and a 5 mins walk to the Asakusa Line (where you will arrive at from Narita Airport). The location is rather ideal where you can get to Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ginza, in less than 30 mins,...

Great place to stay while doing the whole touristy thing. Staff friendly, great room, close to the station and free wifi in the lobby. Free use of laundry too - just need to buy powder. Room comfortable size and a great price. Would stay again. Thanks!

I stayed in a single room non smoking. It was clean, comfortable, modern and quiet. The room was small but big enough for one person, like other hotels in Tokyo there wasn't a place set aside to place your luggage, but i just used the chair as a luggage rack and was comfortable. There is no wifi but there is...

The staff was very helpful and the room was nice and neat. We got a room for 3 and for 2. The room for 3 was big enough, but the one for 2 was really compact, not really practical for ppl with big luggage. The location is great...theres a station within 5 min on foot, convenience stores, and some restaurants...

Mystays is a great value for staying in pricey Tokyo. It has great restaurants and shopping nearby and is within walking distance of subway station. Rooms are small by American standards but adequate and very clean. I am 6'1 (182cm) and I had no problems. The only small disadvantage is lack of in room WIFI, but every room has a...

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
