Check in was fine. We were told check in was at 3pm. We arrived early at 12. It was a very rainy day. The both of us were drenched. No exceptions were made, we could only leave our luggage. Staff was polite, but no effort of extra mile. Neither here nor there. Came back at 3pm, promptly checked in. Stayed...

A bit far compared to the other in area. When we arrived no futon and bed were not completely set. And front staff start joke discussing about my appearance in Japanese. They don't know I understand. Not satisfied about the services.

I stayed here on two separate occasions for long periods of time while hanging out in Tokyo. Such a great place, great memories, and met a ton of great people. The staff is not very helpful and only a few are friendly, but the view from the common room is great and I look forward to staying here again!

I spent 11 nights at this hostel. Decent location right next to Senso-ji Temple, in a quieter area of the city center. 10-minutes walk to Asakusa metro station, supermarkets, etc. Very clean room, capsules, toilet/showers and common areas. Good soundproofing in the capsules. Curtain of capsule allowed for total darkness. Staff were good and regularly enquired about the quality of...

Have a pleasant experience staying here for 4 days. The bed is comfortable. Bath room and kitchen always clean and tidy. The staff are very friendly and they also recommend a good place for us to rent Kimono during our stay there.

I stayed at this hostel for 2 night in October 2016. I arrived at Asakusa station (Ginza line) and found the directions on the website to be extremely useful (complete with pictures!) -especially since this was my first time travelling overseas solo, and I arrived at 9pm. The staff were very helpful, and stayed after closing hours until I arrived....

pros: 1. very clean toilet 2. the staffs were really friendly 3. every corner on Khaosan has many useful information 4. it located in asakusa, so when I wanna access train I have to walk across asakusa. cons: I had JR Pass but you have to use Metro Subway instead of JR Rail, and costs +- 500yen one way

You can't go wrong with this hostel when visiting Tokyo. Senso-ji Temple, a shopping district, the metro station, and a livery restaurant scene are all right next to this hostel. On top of that, it's an outstanding hostel with clean amenities, cozy beds, free wifi and excellent customer service.

The hotel is pretty clean and the staff is really nice. You sleep in a room of 8 people and you get your own (very) small room within. But it is really comfortable. Asakusa is also a very nice location and the trainstation is pretty close. You can't do anything wrong by staying here.

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.

“Try to choose a room on the 7th floor, as the laundry is located here, so you don't have to move up and down the elevator to shuffle your clothes around. Also, don't leave stuff lying around the kitchen—given the friendly atmosphere of the hostel, I got to trusting and left a box of tea and strainer on the counter. A couple of days later I returned to find it missing.”
