I booked this hotel in February 2017 because other hotels were fully booked. It’s convenient for traveling by rail via JR Ueno or Tokyo metro and it’s near Keisei Ueno Station. You just walk to intersection and cross the street to Ameyoko Market This hotel is quite old you can find that in the spacious room Shower room, toilet room...

It was the cheapest at 8500yen for a Type B double room (up to 2pax) during sakura season. (second smallest room). Near the (kesei ueno) stn so its worth it. There seems to be a direct bus or train from narita to ueno now but im not sure. As expected, it is dated and small. But it is even smaller...

Not a bad hotel if you are just looking for a bed while touring and shopping. Very convenient location, right near Station for metro and just a further stroll (1 minute ) to JR rail. Ueno park is just around the corner so if you are there in late March early April then it is a bonus because this place...

Stayed here with my mom and sis for 5 days stay in Tokyo. If you want to experience Tokyo in a tight budget, I would recommend accommodations in Ueno area because rooms here are not as expensive compared to Shibuya or Shinjuku. Plus, Ueno is strategically located near the center of Tokyo so if you want to go on a...

Warm welcome from the fluent English speaking Manager was not something one would have encounter in Japan. Arrived before the checking in time; the friendly staff helped to bring our bags to our room. Clean and Neat. Welcome gifts like bath salt or facial masks were available at the reception. The room equipped with all the toiletries. On top of...

Plus this was the only hotel I found that had wifi at the time of my visit 3 years ago. Breakfast was included but their idea of breakfast was a glass of juice and a slice of bread but thankfully there is a McDonalds just around the corner. Seems like the cost was $115 USD on a weeknight and that...

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
