The hotel is strategically located within minutes from GInza Line and other line. It is about 8 minutes walk from the main Ueno Station. One can easily walk to Ameyoko Night Market. Location is just perfect. Room size is small but cosy. Cleanliness is good. Sleep quality is good too. There is a small TV in the room with lot... More

Hotel easy to find using directions on website; but with luggage it is easier to exit Ueno Station through the Iriya gate and head for the giant silver gold ball statue towards the right, where there are escalators - hotel directions lead you up and down stairs. Hotel small and very tired; a decor update is definitely needed. Staff very... More

I stayed 1 night in new tohoku hotel before going to osaka. Hotel is small but clean .its still in ueno area, walkable from ueno station. I feel happy and grateful that the staff, Mr.Naoki who is the reception at that time, help me to send my luggage. I couldnt be more thankful for that. Since the minimart dont even... More

This hotel felt really comfortable to be in, like I was staying with a second family. I didn't get the breakfast included deal but it seems to begin from 6am - 9am from the way everyone got up and left the hotel. Walls are not too thin but you can hear a lot sometimes. They do start cleaning from around... More

This hotel is in a side street so keep your eyes open. The lovely locals in the area will point it out if you get lost (it happened to us!!) But as soon as you know where it is, it is super easy to find. It is a 5 minute walk to Ueno station - very convenient. There is a... More

The room was small and smelly. It was good if you're not a fancy traveler. The receptions can communicate fairly, they were friendly and useful with the map. It was considered close to the train status and the shopping area is close. There's a lot of convenient store around that area, you can get food and drinks very easily

Me & my friends stayed here for 2 nights at the end of our trip. It's in a good location and easy to get to Ueno or Okachimachi stations to use the JR pass. No lift in this hotel- this is the only annoying thing about it as had to carry our luggage up the stairs. We did have an... More

It's not too difficult to find this hotel from Ueno Station. We chose to stay at Ueno as we can use JR pass to travel to other town easily. Also, we can walk to Ameyoko market on the other side of Ueno Station.

The hotel is placed in one of the main areas of Tokyo, very close to Ueno station. The area is quiet and there is a small shopping area inside the station. The hotel is classic, quiet and you can find all basics stuff you need for a few days. The staff was nice and helpful. With some refurbishment it would... More

For this price you can't ask for more. You will find a typical kimono for your stay (with a funny smell) and tiny rooms but we had a lovely stay. On check out they kept our luggage for the afternoon and they were, as usual, very friendly and polite. The person at the desk doesn't speak much english but at... More

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
