Simple, clean hotel. Two minutes walk from Asakusa station. Good Japanese breakfast served by wonderfully helpful staff. Pillows provided on the beds are like bricks but they have a selection of foam and feather pillows available to borrow on the 10th floor.

Its my 2nd time in Tokyo but booked a different hotel prior. Dormy inn definitely met all my needs. They had all freebies promised in reviews plus more! They provided free laundry service and laundry detergent (coin dryer is at 100 yen only) pillows, foot bath, toiletries (tsubaki by Shiseido can also be used free of chargr) massage at 5-7pm,...

I had a great experience at a Dormy Inn in Nagasaki, so I chose the Dormy Inn Express in Asakusa for part of my stay in Tokyo. The "express" branding seems to refer to the fact that the hotel is a little less outwardly fancy than locations like the one in Nagasaki, especially in the elevator and hallway areas, but...

Being a solo traveler in Japan for my 2nd time around Dormy Inn Express Asakusa was perfect for my needs whilst discovering more fantastic aspects of this amazing area of Tokyo. The Hotel itself was really handy just 5 min walk from Asakusa station (Ginza line) and 7-10 min walk from Asakusa line. Easy access from Narita airport (Access Express...

Room is more space with kitchen. Not so far from subway and Sensoji Temple. I got room view with Tokyo SkyTree. I'm recommend for request high floor room for good view and low light from park in night time. By the way, sometime you will hear car sound due to not far away from road and room not absorb sound...

We stayed in Dormy Inn for 5 days, we had a great time and loved it. Tokyo is an amazing city. Location is great, closed to metro station and the Senso-ji was just few blocks away. The hotel is right behind Sumidagawa River and Sumida Park, I enjoyed my morning jog at 5 am and I enjoyed the silence and...

This hotel is near the Asakusa temple complex - my Japanese friends consider it like being in Williamsburg -- but I liked being near the Sumida River with the Sakura Park immediately adjacent to the hotel, and I appreciated the easy access to the Tokyo Subway system. Being a tourist, I was grateful for the tourist services in the area....

It was difficult making a pick with so many neighborhoods in Tokyo. So I settled on Dormy. From the airport we took the Skyliner to the Ueno station (@$24). From there we bought a Tokyo metro ticket for 150 yen to the Asakusa stop. We walked out and it's across the street! Super convenient. It was extremely easy to go...

I stayed for 5 nights in this hotel and really enjoyed it. My room was comfortable and quiet and I had a lovely view of the river. The rooms have a kettle (and green tea), a TV with some international channels, and toiletries/essentials. The staff are lovely and helpful, breakfast is great (you have the choice of Western and Japanese)...

this was not a fancy place so I struggled with the rating but the accommodations and location were wonderful!! Across the street from the subway and around the corner from the famous Market and Sensa ji Temple, you couldn't ask for a better location. We also had a room with a balcony right on the Sakura River so that was...

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
