Stayed here for 1 night en route to Mt Fuji. This place is really convenient and within walking distance fr Kuramae sta which is a direct train ride fr Haneda airport which is abt 50 mins. It is also abt 15 mins walk away fr Asakusa which has many eating places too. We were spoilt for choice. The staff is...

I frequent Japan quite a bit and I found this gem of a hostel back in 2006. It was my first hostel experience and I was quite surprised at how clean and well managed it was. I have since been back countless times, even when I popped down to Tokyo for a weekend whilst living in Fukushima. The staff are...

The rooms are clean and well maintained. The common area is cosy and a great place to meet peoples the kitchen is a little small but very few people seemed to use it. The staff were really friendly and very helpful and knowledgable. There are some good restaurants nearby as well as 7-eleven. Although a little out of the centre,...

I enjoyed staying in this K's house (as I have in three others), the common rooms are really nice and well maintained. Staff is very helpful und friendly, everything is clean. The rooms are very small - I know that Tokyo is a big and expensive city, but 5 people on 10 m2 is a little bit too much.

A nice hostel overall. The location was good - close to the metro, a few sites, and lots of restaurants and convenience stores nearby. Clean and nice to have a shared kitchen. Staff friendly and extremely helpful recommending restaurants and helping plan site seeing. I stayed in a 5 bed female dorm - the room had it's own sink and...

A fantastic beginning to any trip to the older side of Tokyo. Great location to Metro, 10 minutes from Shinjuku, 20 from Shibuya. Cannot fault the value of the rooms. They are spotless, facilities are first grade, TV and air con in rooms. Many friendly people and staff who speak English. Highly recommend.

If you are having a difficult time choosing a place to stay in Tokyo, you might wanna consider K's house in Taito. It is a hostel located in Asakusa area, good for those traveling on a budget and ideal for solo travelers, backpackers and what-not. The place has a good, friendly atmosphere, quite organised, very clean, and has all the...

knowing that Tokyo is quite expensive, it was a good compromise. Located in Asakusa, close to the temple and metro station, supermarkets... they have a good range of maps that can help you find specific spots (ramen shops, temple...) Staff is very friendly and helpful! the only thing that i did like was the bathroom. There was only two toilets...

I really enjoyed staying there. Staff is very helpfull and nice. In my opinion there is enough of space in the rooms, but you will spend more time in the common space where the kitchen, reception and the entrance to the hostel are so you can quickly meet new friends. If you are using a JR pass then you have...

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
