This hotel is located directly next to Ikebukuro train station. Walking distance to major shopping mall and eateries. Room was clean and spacious with daily makeover and replenish of toiletries. Their breakfast was good too :) Will definitely choose this hotel again if i visit Tokyo.

I selected Hotel Metropolitan based upon its location to the Ikebukuro train station that is served by JREast, Tokyo Metro and the Tobu Tojo line. Easy access to all of the greater Tokyo metropolitan area. The hotel is rated "First Class," and surely lives up to its designation. The entire facilty is spotless and the rooms are well maintained and...

We used this hotel as our basic point of access in Tokyo and found this a very pleasant location. The hotel itself is good, quality standard is as expected and all services are being dealt with professional. Although they might have overkilled it a little with the amount of restaurants in the hotel, we did love the view from the...

We stayed for 3 nights at the hotel in October 2012. The hotel is clean and big. The room size is good, not too small. We have got a room with a nice view of the city. Overall we were happy with the cleanliness, size and service at the hotel. The location of the hotel is great, it's in Ikebukuro...

We were not sure about the area when booked as didn't seem central as we didn't know too much about Ikebukuro. However, transport links are great. Airport bus from Haneda will take you straight to the front door, which when you're arriving at 5am is welcome as don't have to use too much brainpower. After that, you have acess to...

This hotel is located in Ikeburuko, home to Sunshine City and Bic-camera. Not exactly centrally located but the service is top notch even by Tokyo standards. Breakfast is good and views of the concrete jungle from the top floor is great. Rooms are smaller compared to other parts of the world but I would always love to come back to...

Great hotel, great location, room very comfortable. Only drawback was that the food in the hotel was, in our opinion, fairly expensive but sometimes we found the convenience of it was worthwhile. My main compliment must go to all the staff and in particular, Naoki Hayashi, Housekeeping Lost and Found Department, who had a part in returning my iPhone which...

After a good experience back in Dec 2011, I stayed again on Oct 2012. This time I chose a bigger room which indeed felt less crowded and had a bigger room. Also the hotel now has wifi for 500 yen per stay which is a great improvement as wifi is scarce in Tokyo. Again service was excellent and transportation a...

Stayed here with family. Rooms are on the small side, though this is normal for Japan. Toilet and shower facilities are fine. Internet works fine, though no wireless. Breakfast price is reasonable at 1,500 yen per person, and the choice is very varied. Service is fast if slightly impersonal. Location is good, being surrounded by shops and restaurants.

Neighbourhood Profile
Ikebukuro
Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme. It has rapidly become the worldwide headquarters for ‘otaku’ or geek culture.
