Only a minutes walk from ikebukuro station, ramp access into hotels so easy access with bags. Fantastic staff, easy checkin, rooms small but larger than others in Tokyo and non smoking! Approx 26 minutes by train into Tokyo station but great connecting network of local trains and subway system. Lots of restaurants nearby and very affordable. Family mart also close...

My problem with reviewing the Metropolitan Hotel is that it is the only hotel I have stayed in in Tokyo and therefore I have nothing to compare it with. If I were to compare it with US or European hotels I would probably score it down, but I feel many of my frustrations are borne out of my unfamiliarity with...

Really appreciated the wide range of breakfast options at this hotel, with plenty to satisfy western tastes. Room good and hotel is well located. Styling is pretty dated and it doesn't exactly have a cosy feel. Staff attitude a bit remote, but that is probably expected in a hotel of a city with 23 million.

Spotless and roomy for Japan, we could see Mt Fuji from our 14th floor room. Breakfast queues were a minus we ended mlup giving that a miss. Restaurant Est was Fantastic, was like private room dining. Although not central it is on the most convenient subway/train line to Ginza and Tokyo. Recommended.

The staff were very friendly and attended to everything you needed. When we had breakfast we had to line up for several minutes. Then. When we wanted a cappuccino after paying for the buffet we had to pay for it. The cafe up on the 2nd floor of the hotel was good, although you had to wait for about an...

We stayed here as part of an Exodus Travel tour and it was our final destination in Japan. The hotel is extremely big but it didn't every feel too busy. The rooms were large and comfortable with complimentary tea and coffee making facilities and daily bottles of water. The hotel also provided toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors etc. and slippers and nightwear....

The hotel was very clean when I entered the hotel on the first day. Each day there were new water bottles, and a choice of new linen and towels. The hotel provided essentials that you may have forgotten (Toothbrush and paste, hairbrush, body wash, shampoo, conditioner etc.) The buffet was great and provided food for people who are gluten free....

Although Ikeburuko may not seem like the heart of Tokyo, this hotel is only a block away from one of the bigger train stations. We used the train to go almost everywhere we wanted. And surrounding the stations are always malls so you can do all your shopping and even eating without leaving the building. But the hotel itself is...

We normally stay close to the train station in Shinagawa and Tokyo when visiting this area of the country. This was the first time staying in Ikebukuro and it was a pleasant surprise for us. This hotel is conveniently located close to the train station and big department stores such as Tobu, Lumine and Seibu. There are many eateries around...

Staying in Ikebukuro

Neighbourhood Profile
Ikebukuro
Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme. It has rapidly become the worldwide headquarters for ‘otaku’ or geek culture.
