We absolutely loved our stay at Kimi Ryokan! We stayed for 6 nights, on the 3rd floor. I really think Kimi is fantastic value for money and such an awesome little spot. Very quiet, clean, hospitable and friendly. The ground floor has a kitchen, vending machine and lounge area where you can relax and have your feet massaged in their...

The location of this ryokan is fantastic and the friendliness of the staff is perfect. Easy walking distance from a JR station I think this place would be the best place for anyone looking to stay in Tokyo. The ryokan was very clean and spacious with a great lounge for you to store and cook your food. We stayed for...

Being the first place my friends and I stay during our trip to japan, i would say Kimi Ryokan is my favourite place to stay as compared to other places. It has all the necessary facilities and item provided so it is as good as you not preparing anything before coming to Kimi.

The ryokan gave us a chance to stay in a traditional Japanese inn, hence why we picked it. From the JR Ikebukuro station, it's a good 10-minute walk. From the C6 Exit of the Tokyo Metro station, around 5 minutes. If you see the Penguin resto along Tokiwa Avenue, you're close to the ryokan. So yeah, a bit of a...

We stayed at Kimi Ryokan for 5 nights at the end of October and it was a perfect base for exploring Tokyo. The room is compact, but had plenty of space for everything we needed. Plus, we found the tantami mats very comfortable and slept well every night :) I cannot say it loud enough - this place is super...

First of all, this is in no way a ryokan. Essentially, it's a youth hostel for the past-youth set (me included). I can't deny that it's a good deal for a private room in Tokyo in an acceptably convenient location to explore the city (8 minute walk from Ikebukuro Station on the Yamanote Line). But the tatami in our room...

We stayed in the Kimi Ryokan for 6 nights in Tokyo. It is near Ikebukuro station which is not central Tokyo but has very good transport links. It is in a quiet street. Ikebukuro has a large selection of bars and restaurants. Kimi is very good value. It is basic but clean and has a common area with a small...

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The communal aspect of the ryokan is wonderful, the staff speak perfect English if you're worried that your Japanese is as terrible as mine is and there are dozens of amazing places to eat, all in easy walking distance. It is close to the station, in a busy neighbourhood, but down a quiet street....

Kimi Ryokan is a gem in the middle of a mediocre neighborhood. Excellent customer service, superb cleanliness, very comfortable down bedding and inexpensive laundry facilities make this a great choice! The AC works great and each room has its own control . The rooftop terrace is priceless and a great place to enjoy Tokyo sunset or sunrise . Shared toilets...

Staying in Ikebukuro

Neighbourhood Profile
Ikebukuro
Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme. It has rapidly become the worldwide headquarters for ‘otaku’ or geek culture.
