Excellent location walking distance to Shinjuku, and very reasonably priced for the area. Good quality sleep for a 10-bed dorm, guests were respectful and pod-style beds make it easy to have darkness. Overall very clean, staff friendly. Excellent free breakfast included in our stay composed of a choice of 3 paninis, fruits, vegetables and potatoes, as well as buffet cereal. Would be nice to have another quick option like toast as the paninis do take some time to make, but very good quality breakfast. Bar area downstairs and lounges on dorm floors, though I did not find there was much atmosphere overall, but I did not mind as we did not choose this hostel for atmosphere. Overall good value for money.

This has been my second staying since 2017. I choose to stay here again because of the positive experience. The place is clean. There are small lockers for valuables but may be too small for professional camera.

There is no big changes, only the facilities and decorations process a reasonable depreciation. For example, I guess there should be partial renewal during the pandemic like repainting of the wall but I was wrong. However, it doesn’t affect the experience.

I will consider staying in Imano if I have solo trip to Tokyo again.

1. Great location: near to shopping districts and night scenes of Shinjuku.
2. Convenience stores (Lawson, 7e, Family Mart) are all less than 2-minute walk.
3. Free drinking water: dispenser next to the reception.
4. Bed was comfortable enough, no bed bugs spotted (it was labelled as an accommodation with bed bugs by a traveller).
5. Many toilets and showers in the sleeping floor but the shower could turn cold suddenly.
6. Creaking wood sounds with the slightest movement on bed.
7. Sleep quality was okay, roommates were considerate enough.

Not a friendly hostel that gives you the homey feel.

Room: VERY SMALL. Had to open your luggage at the common area outside the room. VERY POOR SOUND PROOF, literally no sound proof. Could hear it clearly when people were talking outside of the room, especially if you stay near the door. What's worse, there were always inconsiderate people talking loudly outside the room after 11pm during my stay, even though there was signage that says no noise after 11pm. Hardly had good rest throughout my stay.

Facilities: The only good thing about this hostel is the washrooms and bathrooms. It was always clean throughout my stay. Body and hair shampoo provided were great.

Location: Not a great location to me. Quite a distance from Shinjuku station or C7 exit of Shinjuku Sanchome Station. There's a Lawson nearby. Shopping areas are within walking distance but none is near, about 10 mins or more by foot.

Staff: Nothing much to comment, not as friendly as the staffs of the hostel I stayed in Kyoto. Maybe Tokyoites are generally less friendly?

Please take note that this hostel will not keep your luggage for you even though you will collect on the same day. There are places that offer luggage storage service with a fee. I stored my luggage at Sagawa Express inside the Tourist Information Center Tokyo in the Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal Building (Opened in April 2016).

I stayed in the Male Mixed Level (Level 4) 10 People Dorm Rooms and found the hostel experience here to be amazing right from the first moment.

1. Staff - Quick and easy check in/check out. They required my passport and provided a lot of details as to the surrounding location. They were really friendly and were very hospitable! Potential to store luggage if you need to check in early or check out late.
2. Rooms - One of the only cons about this place is the difficulty of getting to the bed if you are at the top, a lot of times I missed to fall because of the ladder. However, a few people in my room did fall from the ladder due to its size! Request a bed on the bottom bunk if possible. You get a designated space to put your luggage, a small bench for a backpack and 2 hangers which is in your room. All the rooms are accessible via lift, with the rooms locked by a code given at check in. The pillow and the bed mattress are really hard and difficult to sleep on, but I know the hostel is currently introducing new ones. There is a light and 2 electrical point sockets in each bed.
3. Amenities - 200 yen to rent a towel. Also, they have small tiny lockers for valuables. The free Wi-Fi service was okay, a little slow at times.
4. Facilities - Toilets were really clean and in abundance! Showers were a little bit harder to come by, however provided continuous hot water for long periods of time in addition to the shampoos and soaps provided. They hostel provides a small basket to place your clothes in, a hanger though on the back of the door would really help! Really clean bathroom sinks and mirrors as well!
5. People/Events – Really easy to meet people of all ages and nationalities both downstairs in the cafe and up in the common rooms (a few tables and chairs) on each floor! I think this is what really makes the hostel what it is, as the areas to meet people are in abundance! They run happy hour on most nights, with certain events taking place sometimes instead - Darts Night, Trivia Night, Takoyaki making night (this one was my favourite for sure)! Sometimes you would meet people at the events and then head out after for drinks/dinner or sight-seeing during the day.
6. Location - 4 Minute walk from Shinjuku Sanchome station, 7 Minute walk from Higashi Shinjuku station, 3 Minute walk from the infamous Golden Gai/Shinjuku area! McDonald’s is a 5 Minute walk and the nearest grocery store is a minute away on foot. This hostel is perfectly situated.

Overall, I cannot recommend this hostel enough! It is a bit more pricier regards to the other hostels/capsules. But I can definitely say it is worth it! Hoping to come back and stay with Imano again in the near future!

Very good choice in the hart of Shinjuku. Spotless clean hostel with helpfull staff. I had good sleep there, beds are good, toilets and shower in excellent condition. Not to much luggage space in the bedrooms, but you can pack/unpack in common space which is just outside the rooms. Only 10 minutes walk from JR train station. If you are 'eggs for breakfast' person, you got it, all you can eat for 600 yen. Otherwise, plenty of restourants and convenince stores neerby. Will stay there again

Me and my girlfriend stayed recently (different beds). The location of this hostel is great, very close to Shinjuku night life and shops. The hostel has average hostel amenities, shared rooms, beds, shower rooms.

The staff are nice but they find dealing with money very difficult though. If you do not book room from website, they will charge x2 the regular price, they do not give deposits back for towels, also paid cash for our rooms one night and they didn’t give our change back. If you do not specifically ask for it, they didn’t ever volunteer to give it to you.

Would probably stay again though

This isn't the hostel if you're looking to meet people. But it's still amazing if you're travelling alone. Extremely clean, comfortable and quite private. It was my first stay in a Japanese hostel and I was blown away. If you're alone and questioning whether to get a small hotel room or a hostel just get the hostel it's perfectly comfortable and situated in a great spot. Cafe's, restaurants all around. If you're a female solo traveller absolutely stay here, the female floors are quiet, clean and perfectly fine to sleep in after a day of sightseeing.

The only downside I can think of is that there was my shower was freezing cold on the last night and the aircon went of on the first night for a short while and I woke up in the hot sweats. For the price I was completely okay with this.

yew!

Stayed a night in the female dorm and I found that the room was spacious, clean, and comfortable for sleeping. Bathroom are clean and equipped with amenities. Neighborhood is safe and the location is not so far from Shinjuku st. I feel safe and secure staying here.

I would highly recommend this hostel. Big time. Firstly it is in the heart of Tokyo, situated nicely in the buzzing district of Shinjuku. It is a 10-15min from the main Shinjuku station or a 5min walk from Shinjuku-sanchome metro.

The staff were great, really friendly bunch. Also very helpful with tourist advice regarding places to visit. I wouldn't have seen sumo practice without their advice!

We stayed in a 6 bedded dorm which was incredibly peaceful and very clean. There were 3 showers on our floor so no need to rush! Food is available on site but the hostel is close to restaurants nearby. Plus you get one free drink for your stay!

Would definitely stay here again if I return to Tokyo.

is this hotel suitable for family stay. It seems all guests are sharing the same room. is it?
Answer from Erika B
Chicago, Illinois196 contributions85 helpful votes
I saw a family stay here while I was there (a mom and her two daughters, I think). This is dorm-style, meaning that there are 8-10 beds in each dorm room. The men and women dorm rooms are separated by floors so if you have male family members, they would be on another floor and the only place you can meet with them is the kitchen and the common areas. No kids allowed (age restriction: only guests 18 years and older are accepted).

Hi Harrison, Storage space is going to be in the actual dorm room that you stay in. Some dorm rooms house 6 people (mine did) others may house more. I kept little locks on all my stuff and left it there for the full day - never had any issues. Hope that helps.
