Pros: Tiny, clean, quiet rooms in a good location. Free internet, LCD TV. The staff were nice and spoke sufficient English. Cons: The room was tiny, pretty much the size of a double bed, with 1 foot of space on two sides [to be expected with business hotels I guess] it also smelt a little smoky and we could hear...

Stayed at this hotel in Jan 09 for 4 nights. Overall a good experience. Firstly though, navigating the maze which is the Shinjuku JR station was a challenge. You need to take the east exit from the station to get to the hotel. Finding the east exit from the platform we landed at meant we had to go down a...

We stayed at the Sunlite Hotel for one week in early Dec and we were thrilled with the hotel! Even though the hotel is about a 10 min walk from the JR station but it's only a few minutes walk from the Shinjuku Sanchome Metro station. We booked our room through the hotel website and was able to get an...

I stayed in this hotel in late october 2006. It is an above average business hotel with lots of budget minded tourists staying there. Nice clean room, on small side but average for Japan. Easy to find from subway. Staff is very helpful and answers e-mail. Looking forward to spending a few days at this place in 2009.

We've stayed here twice now and will be going back in a few weeks. At first glance it's a typical Tokyo business hotel. The rooms are on the small side but they are clean and comfortable. Very friendly and helpful staff, with some English spoken. There's a small restaurant in the hotel annex, the food's not brilliant but it is...

Booked single room in the Annex on rakuten for under 7000. Business hotel room with modular bathroom. Translucent window that cannot be opened in room. Fully individual climate control. Location is far from Shinjuku station, but 2 blocks from the underground walkway system. 2AM curfew. One of the best priced business hotel in the neighbourhood.

Hotel Sunlite is in two side-by-side buildings on busy Meiji-dori in the heart of Shinjuku close to sights and shopping. Its a bit of a walk to the subway. The hotel was clean, the room was small but ok for two people, small bathroom, room had frig, phone, and TV, staff spoke limited English, there are two free Internet computers...

Stayed 4 nights early March 2008, great location, about 15 minutes from Shinjuku station. Room we booked was a semi-double. It was what I expected from reading other reviews, however I was still a little surprised from the size. It's small, but adquate. We booked this hotel because of the price (cheap $AUS95.00 per night) and location. Great restaurants and...

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
