I recently completed a solo trip to Japan and used this as my base. The location is excellent to say the least. If you fly into Haneda, you are more or less a 15 minute direct train ride way for around $4 USD. You are also handy to the JR Yamanote line which basically gets you anywhere in the Tokyo...

We stayed here for a couple nights and it was perfectly nice, the location is very convenient to the Shinagawa station. The lobby and hotel grounds are beautiful. The rest of the hotel needs some work. The restaurant is an Italian place with a pretty limited menu. The room were large, but the bathrooms need some help. They are very...

We stayed at the Marriott and the Prince Sakura. Both are wonderful hotels, the service is considerably better at the Prince, while the room is a bit nicer at the Marriott. The jacuzzi and saunas at the Prince are wonderful and it is a short (500 Meter) walk to Shinagawa station that has the subway and the train.

The Prince Sakura Tower hotel is located just 5 minutes walk away from Shinagawa train station. A bus service runs regularly, every 40 minutes, from the airport to the hotel and vice versa. The transportation is very convenient and easy to use. It is also possible to reach the hotel via the Narita Express and the standard train. Outside the...

This is my favorite hotel in Tokyo. Beautiful garden. Gym. Gracious service. I've stopped staying at the American chains. This is so lovely. The rooms are large and elegant. Get a room facing the gardens. Stunning. Many restaurants to choose, but avoid the Italian place.

Our second week-long visit at this hotel (i.e., we came back!). Great service (reception and greeters are so nice), nice breakfast buffet (I was able to eat all Japanese items every day), very good gym (complete nautilus weight machines and variety of aerobic devices), superb his and hers spas (the mist room was my favorite end of day relaxation), very...

I enjoyed the views staying at the top floor (14th) I guess I got lucky as it didn't cost me a dime more than my colleagues staying in the lower floors. I arrived a day earlier and luckily they had a room at the top floor. Didn't get the fruits welcome for the first day but they mentioned they will...

My family of three stayed in this hotel for 4 days, mainly to recover from jet lag. It was simply a transformative experience, with the touches of the ancient-modern Japanese ascetic in every way. The subtle house blend aroma scenting the entire hotel lobby was an invisible welcome. The delightful smell alone helped desolve the stress from our long international...

This hotel was selected because a relative attended a business meeting there. This is a business hotel. We had a large room, with many ammenities. The hotel is within walking distance to the SHINAGAWA station, which serves the Narita Express, Haneda express, JR line among others. The hotel was a bit pricy. The 34,000 yen breakfast was overpriced, or 68,000...

Staying in Shinagawa / Gotanda

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinagawa / Gotanda
In Shinagawa, an office district shares space with luxury residential buildings and the scene is constantly changing with rapid development. Ikedayama park and Togoshi park are great places to see beautiful traditional Japanese gardens with ponds, as well as enjoy the changing seasons. Shinagawa was a post and a port town during the Edo era and the lavish old Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples at Shinagawa and Ebara are very popular. It's a great place to get in touch with the old Edo atmosphere on a pleasure boat cruising along the canal. The neighboring area around Gotanda station is a study in modern contrasts filled with unique restaurants and a lively nightlife.
