We stayed here for business 1 night recently and had no complaints. its a standard top notch business or non-business hotel but key positive for me is the convenient location. Flying into Tokyo Narita airport, you take the Narita express to Shinagawa station (which is huge) and then a 2 minute walk thru the station to the hotel. I will...

After camping 1 night at dull room Marriott hotel Shinagawa, we switched to The Strings. Immediately our mood was lifted by the bright colors and lightings. Especially the room. Though the room is the same size as that of Marriott, the rooms are bright and cheerful. Layout of the room is modern and efficient. You don't feel so caged up...

This is my fourth stay in under two years and I am delighted that the consistent excellent performance from the past continues. This relates to all areas including the helpful and proactively positive staff, modern serene elegance both in the public spaces and the rooms, free wifi, 24/7 gym, breakfast buffet, etc. The only request I have (and past requests...

I have stayed here twice and will return again this October. Perfect location right at the Shinagawa station and the shinkonsen train. Quiet, large elegant rooms. And excellent staff. Very helpful with any information you may need. And great breakfasts with stunning little baked pastries.

We stayed for 6 nights at this hotel in August 2014. What a great hotel for the price. The room was a reasonable size although the bathroom a little small but totally functional. It's located in a very convenient location right above Shinagawa Station. Was very easy to find coming off the train by following the instructions given by other...

This hotel is frankly a bargain. The staff are fantastic. Its actually quite small occupying only a few floors of a very tall building. This makes it a bit more intimate. Lovely bar in the atrium. The rooms are lovely too. Standard Interconti style with a few Japanese touches. The hotel is linked to Shinangawa station so you can take...

I traveled here on business and selected it primarily due to its proximity to my business meetings. I spent three nights here in late August and I enjoyed it. It is an excellent hotel. Very nice 4 star hotel with mostly business travellers. Bright, clean and new, with nice new rooms, also with a very good concierge service that we used to make a restaurant reservation, and a terrific buffet breakfast that was good value for Tokyo hotels of this class (2600 yen p.p.) Very convenient spot, only a 3 minute walk from Shinagawa...

Staying in Shinagawa / Gotanda

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinagawa / Gotanda
In Shinagawa, an office district shares space with luxury residential buildings and the scene is constantly changing with rapid development. Ikedayama park and Togoshi park are great places to see beautiful traditional Japanese gardens with ponds, as well as enjoy the changing seasons. Shinagawa was a post and a port town during the Edo era and the lavish old Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples at Shinagawa and Ebara are very popular. It's a great place to get in touch with the old Edo atmosphere on a pleasure boat cruising along the canal. The neighboring area around Gotanda station is a study in modern contrasts filled with unique restaurants and a lively nightlife.
