I went to Meguro Gajoen recently to see an exhibition of traditional dolls as part of the Hina Matsuri display. I had no idea this building is just part of a huge and impressive hotel and dining complex that is worthy of visiting even if no displays are scheduled. I discovered that this old and original section of this building...

Be sure to stop by, even if you are not staying here, to view and admire the public restrooms. Believe me, they are mind blowing! Just fabulous......it is a close walk to the cherry blossoms along the river bank, so this makes for a great walk in the evening after dining at one of the many, many restaurants in Meguro!

My partner and I stayed in Meguro Gajoen - A historic, yet modern Japanese hotel in a quiet corner of Tokyo. Meguro Gajoen is primarily a wedding banquet hall but it also offers a wealth of other amenities to visitors. ROOM We reserved the 80 square meter tatami (a traditional Japanese type of wooden flooring) room, although Western style rooms...

Staying in Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu

Neighbourhood Profile
Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu
There are countless opportunities to shop in the Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast, Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool. At the Museum of Yebisu Beer you can learn about the beer that was responsible for the town’s name, and enjoy dining at the popular noodle shops in the surrounding area.
