This is a grand old hotel but as a result the rooms and facilities are a bit outdated. The biggest drawback is that a large number of rooms face the metro and Shinkansen tracks so it is very noisy! Be sure to ask for a room as far away from the tracks as possible. Also, for a hotel of this standing I find unacceptable that there be a charge to use the fitness center ($10) and the pool (another $10)!

We stayed 4 nights at Imperial hotel and it was a lovely experience! The hotel is very traditional in the region, and it is well know by the excellent service provided for the guests. And our experience could not be different! The staff is very friendly greeting you all the time! We booked 2 rooms and the reception was very helpful in providing us connecting rooms to be keep the kids close to us. The rooms are very spacious, nice bed and pillow.
All the staff is very prepared and excellent English speaking. We needed help for calling a courier luggage company and the staff was extremely helpful! The hotel has an excellent location close to main train stations in Tokyo. All of them at short distance walking! It is a walking distance from Guinza, a nice area for shopping and eating.
You can find several kind of international food nearby in case you do not like Japanese food! We also had an excellent experience eating at one of the hotel restaurants! The tempura experience where chef prepared the food in front of us, explaining all the details! Lovely! Definetly recommend and will come back one day!

Having gone thru fires and earthquakes and WWII, damaged and demolished then restored and rebuilt and again rebuilt, it is a wonder that Imperial Hotel, known as one of famed American Architect Frank Lloyd Wright's works, currently stands proud: the picture of serene stability in a prime area of Tokyo near the Imperial Palace, fronted by western-style Hibiya Park, close to the metro station, an easy stroll to the best shopping and dining places ~ in short, ideally located. Staff is scrupulously polite and attentive; the rooms have that retro charm with great modern amenities; hotel restaurants are first class and such a welcome treat especially during cold, wintry evenings. Would stay there again at any given time!

What an exceptional hotel. The service is impeccable. We have stayed in many hotels around the world and this was without a doubt one of the best. Our family of five had two rooms and both were spotless, filled with amenities (tooth brushes, water, comfortable robes, everything you could ask for). The staff was to a person professional, helpful and respectful. True elegance. The location of the hotel is wonderful - steps from the metro, walking distance to countless restaurants, food stalls, and stores, and a great exploration point for the city. Across the street from a park and a short walk to the Imperial Palace.

We loved the hotel so much we cancelled our reservation for another chain in Osaka and stayed at the Imperial Osaka.

Trust us - you will not regret staying at this beautiful, elegant, wonderful hotel. We still joke about wishing we were back there!

Finally get to stay at my number one dream hotel in Japan: Imperial Hotel Tokyo, which just opposite the Hibiya Park. This legendary hotel is the first western style hotel in Japan and this year they are celebrating their 130 years anniversary. Their service and the room? Perfect.

Had a lunch at the hotel's restaurant: Tokyo Nadaman: this Japanese restaurant marked their 190 years anniversary this year and there also have a branch here in this hotel, nice food and service.

Imperial Bar Aqua: unfortunately the Old Imperial Bar is temporarily closed but they have another bar open at the top floor and I got the chance to try their delicious Imperial Cocktail with great night view of Ginza.

Breakfast: guest can choose between having their breakfast in the room or the restaurant due to COVID precaution. I choose the restaurant at Parkside with American breakfast, the service is great but the food is average though.

My only regret is that I only stayed here for one night. I will definitely come to stay here again when I got the chance to visit Tokyo again.

1)Amazing service: I had a couple of unexpected complications during my stay and the folks at the front desk and the service department could not be more helpful.

2) The gym has a good city view.

3) GREAT location - many restaurants close by, walking distance from GINZA, easy subway access. central location to everything.

4) Airport Limo bus stop from Narita airport. You can purchase your return bus ticket from the concierge. The porter will tag your bags and bring it to the bus. Again, great service.

There are some minor things inside the room that can be improved and the breakfast buffet (included in my room) could have better food selections but not a big deal.

Stayed five nights with my family of five for the first time at this hotel.
First look - very posh and grand into the main hall as employees operated like clockwork, precise and very smooth in clearing the check in.

Given two adjacent but non connecting rooms despite booking this several months back. The room felt dated and small though it’s packed full of amenities with a good sized bath tub and a standing shower. We had the side facing Ginza which meant a constant rail noise with the trains (late nights and early mornings).

Location wise this is good as it is a short walk to the major metro lines o and even Ginza. The nearby palace grounds offered space and greenery relief. Food wise it is easy to find many nice eateries near the rail track.

Overall I felt this is good value for money with good location, professional staff (twice a day room cleaning) offset by the dated feel and noise.

We returned to the Imperial for our recent business trip to Tokyo and found the service and overall focus on quality to be unchanged! The location is super-convenient for us and all facilities are available in the property, especially dining options. I am always amazed at the attention to detail at the Imperial, from the laundry services (rated by many as "best in the world") to the bell captain's baggage shipping and storage services.
I recommend the Imperial unreservedly!

We stayed at Imperial Hotel Tokyo during Christmas holiday 2023. We chose standard room. We were told that 12th floor was the highest floor available for standard rooms. Room size was may be around 42 sqm -- decent room size for 2 adults.
We made extra requests for towels and drinking water and our requests were delivered daily without having to ask again. Nice!
Room was clean. Bed, blanket and pillows were okay.
There were automated curtain and lighting systems controlled via iPad.
In-room hot water kettle, tea bags and instant coffee were available every day. Bathrobes and pjs were also available in room for daily use.
Guests can freely store some drinks in the hotel's refrigerator.
Room was quiet. Air con worked fine.

Unlike all other luxury hotels around the world booked through Hotwire, The Imperial Hotel is not refunding through Hotwire.
When this pandemic is over people need to Suport those hotel chains that show compassion by giving full refunds to those people who can not Possably get to there destination by no full of their own.
People need to make that extra effort to support not only Hotel chains showing compassion but any business that is doing its bit in helping the world get through this !!

Just phone them! It's easy and they are delightful to deal with; their English on the phone is fine, you'll have no trouble. Booking well in advance is a very good idea and using the concierge makes a lot of sense.

From a Los Angeles lifetime resident/nisei with 1,000+ nights at Imperial Tokyo: western breakfast is very good at 1F Parkside Diner, ~¥3,500. Starbucks is next-door for lighter fare. You're on the edge of Ginza so you can walk to other light, western breakfast options.

I agree with the other answers in this post. The Imperial has excellent service and will accommodate most any request. Having a highly respected hotel make your reservations in Tokyo is the best way to secure top reservations.
