I stayed for three nights at the Capitol Hotel Tokyu on business. The room was spacious, comfortable and elegantly styled.

Often it is the little things that make the difference, and it is clear that all details have been considered here: wifi fast and free, a good quality iron (cordless), a newspaper each morning, bottled water and welcome snacks on arrival.

The service was impeccable, very efficient and friendly. Breakfast and room service were high quality, although certainly on the expensive side (the full buffet breakfast is about USD $45).

On the whole, a wonderful hotel.

We stayed in a Premier Corner King room on the 24th floor. It was a spacious room with a large and comfortable bed and magnificent views over Tokyo. The bathroom was amazing with a spectacular bath and shower - if you are brave enough you can shower with a view of Tokyo (and Tokyo might have a view of you too!) The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. There is plenty of English spoken throughout the hotel. We had breakfast in Origami which was a generous buffet with plenty of options. There are other breakfast options in the arcade below the hotel if you are looking for something cheaper. The location in Akasaka right on some major metro lines made it easy to explore Tokyo, and to have some convenient eating places in Akasaka too. All in all a great hotel, and easily worth the price,

This was my third stay at the hotel (the others being in 2016 and 2019).

Firstly, the positives:
1. The location is ideal, in a peaceful location surrounded by gardens and the Hie shrine right next door, but with a direct link to multiple subway lines. This is an excellent base for exploring Tokyo.
2. The interior design of the hotel is beautiful, and the facilities are kept in immaculate condition. The whole hotel is very luxurious and distinctively Japanese in its appearance.
3. The rooms are again stylish, luxurious, immaculately maintained and very comfortable. On each of my stays I have chosen a corner room, which I would highly recommend. The double aspect windows enable fantastic views of the city at any time of day. The bathroom and large dressing area are very useful.
4. Our most recent visit included access to the club lounge. The food and beverage options on offer at this intimate space were excellent, but the service should be called out in particular. Unfortunately I did not confirm his name, but a senior male member of staff that interacted with us on multiple occasions should be commended for his excellent service.

Despite my stay being positive overall, as a repeat guest I would like to highlight some areas that I think could be improved.

1. The breakfast offering is very limited and significantly worse than the breakfast options available prior to the pandemic. On previous visits there was a absolutely fantastic buffet, with a wide variety of high quality Japanese, Western and cook to order options. The breakfast now consists of a handful of set menu options, or a very limited continental breakfast option. To be frank, the current breakfast offering is not befitting of the hotels star rating or the prices being charged. Please bring back the old breakfast offering, it was a highlight!

2. The pool and spa areas were unpleasant to use, so numerous were the rules and regulations. In addition, I felt like I was being watched constantly by the staff on duty to ensure compliance. I had to confirm to staff that is did not have any tattoos before I was allowed to enter, and had to wear a swimming cap for the duration of my visit. I was also watched to make sure I removed my shoes before entering the changing area. The rules went so far as to sectioning the pool into three different zones for walking, slow swimming and fast swimming, and defined the direction that I should travel within the pool. It made for a stressful experience despite the fact I was the only guest in the entire pool area at the time. Needless to say I did not stay long, nor did I return.

The ambience of Origami (lobby restaurant) is lovely and refined. However, the staff are not focused on providing the customer service level that is suitable for a 5-start Hotel nor one that is next to the Prime Minister's office. Firstly, Vegetarian options on the menu are non-existent. Secondly, when asking for vegetarian options, the request has not been communicated internally appropriately. We had asked for one vegetarian pasta specifically with no garlic and the another vegetarian pasta as suggested with garlic. Both came out with garlic and the server did not assume anything was the issue. It was as though the foreign vegetarian guests were at fault for asking for something weird to eat.

When a Japanese member of our party complained that her Ceaser Salad had lint in it, she was apologized to profusely and the item was not charged.

I have heard of such a disparity in treatment based off of race. An African-American client of mine had moved away from Capital Tokyu Hotel due to the unprofessional service that he received. Quite unfortunate, unless this is their market positioning.

Having had an excellent experience at this property back in 2015 (see my original review for further information), it was a no-brainer to book two deluxe King Rooms for three nights for a family trip to Japan. We arrived on March 29th late evening after a long trip from Europe. Upon checking-in we immediately felt we have reached a safe haven enriched by legendary Japanese hospitality. After a fews minutes we were comfortably lodged in rooms 2319 & 2320 and could rest perfectly. The property is still as we remembered it. Wonderfully architected, strategically located, awesome staff, great breakfast buffet. Perfect stay.

After my Osaka adventure, I travelled to Tokyo. And the luxurious Capitol Hotel Tokyu accommodated me during my trip! The hotel’s location is ideal because it’s within the proximity of the city’s most popular attractions and main stations! And since Tokyo is the Capital of Japan, you’ll expect a lot of shopping centres, people (of course), and train stations that are so busy. BUT, The Capitol Hotel Tokyu made my stay comfortable and convenient! If we’re going to talk about my room, the amenities, the food, I will lose for words of how awesome they are. The view of the city from my room is a plus too! You would feel the Japanese vibe when you stay in this hotel. The hospitality of the staff is fantastic! If ever you’re planning a trip to Tokyo, The Capitol Hotel Tokyu is the best place to stay in. Luxurious, convenient, very welcoming, and comfortable (not to mention that it’s crazy clean). I would go back soon!

We first stayed at this hotel before pandemic in 2019 for our family vacation in Tokyo. As soon as Japan reopened its tourism we booked the same hotel with no hesitation and it turns out that everything still stays at the same highest standard since our last visit.

I can’t say enough good things about the hotel. It locates next to the official residence of the prime minister, a relatively quiet neighborhood, but can easily access to most of the attractions, for there are three subway lines just under the hotel using the underground passage; it took only 10 minutes walking from the hotel to the imperial palace, if you planned for a morning run there.

the hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful. Since the beginning of planning the vacation, the concierge staff gave me lots of help and information, and couldn’t be more patient to answer every email I sent, always in the shortest time period, they helped me booked the restaurants, did their best to accommodate all my requests.

The room is spacious and luxurious and very well maintained, it was just like the last time we stayed, even better. Everything is so perfect that by the time of the checkout my kids didn’t even want to leave. Overall, we had a great time staying there and will definitely choose it again for our next visit.

We stayed at Capitol Tokyu a few times in the past few years and each time the service is consistently great. Room is quite spacious for Tokyo standard and the style is a mix of Japanese and modern design. Breakfast is just ok. There are 4 different subway lines directly connected to the hotel and it is very convenient to go around. Overall I would say that this hotel is a great value 5 star hotel.

This is a lovely hotel with great reception/concierge/lobby staff. It is easy to get to trains and rooms are lovely though thin walls in the bathroom means privacy is lacking. The included breakfast is average at best for Western taste especially if you are a healthy eater wanting lots of fruit, healthy cereals, whole grain bread etc as it does not offer any of these. Restaurant staff were average whereas all other staff were great.

Very modern hotel and so friendly. Staff were amazing and very helpful. The hotel is in a chilled out part of Tokyo but great connections to the rest of vibrant Tokyo. A separate lift to the basement where there is the metro (Tameike-sanno) with connections to 4 metro lines to every part of Tokyo. Shibuya and Ginza around 5-10 mins from the metro!. There is also a 7-11 convenience store and coffee shop in the basement.
The Japanese restaurant is a must and Chinese was also good but there are loads of places to eat outside the hotel as well.
Just one minor point was the lack of USB charging points in the room.
A great hotel for the business traveler but also for tourists.
