As other reviewers have commented, this proved a good choice for our few days in Tokyo. The rooms are clean and the beds comfortable - we slept well. The rooms are good size for a Japanese hotel as we have stayed in much smaller ones in Tokyo. We would certainly consider staying here again.

The Japanese breakfast included cooked oatmeal as well as rice and miso soup. There was also a good collection of pastries and normal coffee and tea.

If you are a coffee drinker, they open the coffee bar downstairs in the afternoon. Otherwise, if you want coffee in your room, you will need to bring your own packs of instant coffee. A box of Western tissues would be useful, too.

The reception desk has a local map showing the nearby restaurants as well as the cuisine and price range. No guarantee that they speak English but it was an interesting experience all the same.

The hotel is well located in terms of transport and you can take Narita Line Rapid Tokyo from the train station at Narita Airport. It continues through into the Sobu Line (Rapid) without needing to change trains - about 75 minutes in total at a price of Yen 1,340. You leave the train at Bakurocho Station and use exit A1. The hotel is perhaps a 7-minute walk. If you print the map off the hotel website, it should help. There are Comfort Hotel signs around in the area but be careful as Comfort has 3 hotels here.

Please ask someone on the platform when returning to Narita from Bakurocho as not all the Sobu Line trains continue directly to the airport.

The room was clean, if a bit small. The bathroom was a prefabricated unit, leading it to feel a bit plastic-y, but it served us well enough. The linens were a tiny bit scratchy and the single pillow was a little small but otherwise the room was just fine. We do wish that we did not get a new bag of towels/slippers/toothbrush every day that we set our room to do not disturb…it seemed a bit wasteful. There was breakfast included, though we chose to sleep in a little and missed it every day (the last seating was 9:30). There was also laundry and vending machines in the building as well.
It is of note that the closest JR train is at least a 7-10 minute walk from this hotel, although this did lead to it being quite quiet in the area nearby.

Great hotel in a quieter area of Tokyo. The popular Akihabara neighbourhood is within walking distance.

Check-in process was easy and staff were helpful. Room was clean, quiet and nice. It had air conditioning, a mini fridge and a nice bathroom. The hotel has a laundry area with washing machines and dryers. No laundry detergent needed as the machine automatically dispenses it. The complimentary breakfast was very good. I recommend going to the breakfast area on the earlier side as it gets very busy from 8-9:30.

Convenience stores, cafes, and a grocery store are all nearby, along with 3 train/subway stations that allow you to easily get around Tokyo. We used Bakuroyokoyama and Iwamotocho stations to access the Toei subway and Barocho station to access the JR train.

Friendly staff, always available to assist. We loved the fact there is a bath in the room. Breakfast was fairly average. Hotel is in a nice local area , and a short walk to lively Akihabara. It was good value and much cheaper than other hotels in Tokyo, hence we stayed there.

Check in took a loooong time on our second stay. Tired after all the walking and hauling luggage with a baby carrier through the subway, shinkansen, and a taxi (almost 5 hours from Osaka), my 2 kids and toddler grandkid arrived to a new check in system in place that should have taken a few moments to complete but almost ended in an altercation with front desk.

I had booked 3 rooms for my family (my kids and grandkids, a total of 12 in all). We stayed here for 3 nights at first, then went to Osaka, then came back. My group arrived ahead for our 2nd time.

The older English speaking male receptionist first said that all of us in the booking had to present our passports before my group could be checked in (which was impossible at that time since 4 were in Disney, and the other 4 were still on their way to the hotel).

Then he took some time to find my name in the paper and screen shots I presented. When he found it, he said I could not be checked in yet. According to him, I was listed as guest and it was my daughter who was the main booker.

What? I was the one who made the booking and merely placed my daughter’s name as the occupant of the first room.

Good thing she arrived after a while; at that point I was seriously considering transferring to a different hotel with a better receptionist.

I insisted on showing him the Booking.com email addressed to me and the app in my phone. He said he did not know why it happened that I was listed as guest.

Isn’t everyone who reserves a room through a booking app a guest of the hotel?

Except for this check-in, I would say Comfort Hotel Higashi-Kanda is clean, comfortable, conveniently located (5 to 8 minutes walk to the metro or subway). Many restaurants and convenience stores are in the area. There is free breakfast and luggage storage.

Stubbed my toe a couple of times. There is little space between the beds and the desks.

The other staff were helpful and friendly.

The rooms are clean, they look new and are quite big for Japan. We have stayed with a child and we had enough room. The location is close to Akihabara and JR station. Staff is friendly. Bed was very comfortable. Hotel is also calm.

Stayed here for 6 nights. Very good location: 15min walk from the Kanda station, 5min from Bakurocho station and 20min from Akihabara area.
Rooms are small (as in most of Japan) but comfortable as well as beds. We had two large suitcases but it was fine.
There is an air conditioner, refridgerator and coffee\tea facility in the room.
Breakfast is excellent - fresh and delicious! Between 14:00-23:00 you can enjoy free coffee, tea and ice water at the hotel lobby.
Staff is very kind.
TV channels only in Japanese !!

My family stayed at the Comfort Hotel Higashi Kanda, in a room with three beds. While the room was not large, it was manageable for three people (including large suitcases). The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were very quiet. The staff was very friendly and spoke enough English to make our check-in/out easy. The breakfast, while basic, was surprisingly tasty. What we appreciated most about the hotel was that it is located in a quiet neighborhood, with extremely easy access to the Tokyo metro (about five minutes walk to the entrance), along with 7-Elevens/Lawsons nearby for snacks. Altogether, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

I stayed here for a night with a friend. The hotel is close to Bakurocho station, less than 5 minutes walk. I just want to warn a bit to tourists with heavy suitcase like me, one thing. At the station, 4 exits are close to the hotel. But none of them had lift or escalators. Probably there are exits with lift, but not closest to the hotel. It was very hard to carry, as the stairs are so long...

But this is not hotel problem. Room is clean and large enough, there is a coffee machine we can get coffee for free. Breakfast is free, and it was very okay.

It is very quiet around the hotel but only 5 minutes to Tokyo station by train, so it is very convenient.

Exit from Exit B4 (*Please use Exit A4 if you are using the elevator) and turn left with your back to the main street. Pass a 7-Eleven on your right and go straight diagonally right down the street. When you reach a large street (Kiyosubashi-dori), cross the traffic light and turn right. 7-8 minutes later, you will see our hotel in front of you.
