Beautiful venue in a lovely setting. Service took quite a long time which was understandable for the size of the group however still quite long. I had the fish & chips. Fish batter was very crispy & a bit oily. Fish was not very tasty even smothered in lemon & tartar sauce. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious. Staff should...

Many thanks to the Balbirnie Hotel for the great afternoon we had with family and friends celebrating our Golden Wedding. The prior arrangements made in consultation with Sarah made sure our requests were fully met and everything done to ensure our day would be special. On the day we were welcomed by your staff who then took excellent care of...

We had a overnight stay and had a rather mixed experience. The room had been very recently refurbished to a very high spec. The bed which also seemed brand new was extremely comfortable. The flat screen TV was pretty tiny and for a 4 star I'd expect bigger. The meal in the Orangery was absolutely fantastic. Food superb and service...

We recently had a mid-week overnight stay at Balbirnie House and I can honestly say this was one of the best places we have stayed. On entering the beautiful building you are met by helpful friendly staff at the reception. Our room was beautifully decorated and spacious, we had been informed it was refurbished only a few weeks ago. We...

My wife booked a two night stay at this lovely hotel as a belated birthday treat. We were pleasantly surprised to hear we would be staying in the pearl suite which was of the highest quality. The room was massive and in pristine condition with a very pleasing bathroom with an amazing shower. The room was tastefully decorated very much...

My wife is a wheelchair user, which she cannot propel her self as she is paralysed down her right side. The disabled room (101) granted is on the first level, however to get to it you have to go through at least three heavy doors that open away from you. As the length of a wheelchair is between 30-36 inches...

My husband and I visited Balbirnie House a couple of weeks ago which was a gift for my husband's birthday. We were not disappointed. The rooms were amazing - very large and spacious with a lot of character. We had dinner and breakfast included and the food could not have been any better. Presentation at dinner was perfect and the...

Hello Shoshana, Thank you so much for your kindness with regards to your bedroom, we're absolutely that you thought it was absolutely lovely. Beautiful surroundings for my nieces wedding. Lovely hotel and plenty of staff on hand to look after the guests every need. We stayed the night too and the rooms were lovely and spacious. Would recommend for a short stay or an event.

Just had a meal at Balbernie House in the Orangery. Can't say I was overly impressed with it, fussy and arty presentation doesn't make for a good meal. The food was average and a bit on the cold side. The restaurant staff were second to none being polite, helpful and attentive. Although I didn't complain they sensed by my flat...

Hello Talmanja, Our four course feature dinner menus with the Orangery 'experience' is aligned as a complete evening. Maybe you'd prefer The Balbirnie Bistro instead? Our menus therein are absolutely classically traditional, and straightforward. (Sample menus are available on our website) All best wishes from one and all. I personally feel your comments made to a local lady celebrating her 35th wedding anniversary were horrible!

I fully support dawn t on this and feel your response is condescending in the truest sense of the word, you appear to show an attitude of patronizing superiority when you state, " Balbirnie's Snr Manager in charge of Guest Services, has already gone a country mile to do everything possible to exceed what any logically thinking guest would consider as truly wonderful service"

How dare you? this part of your statement, "logically thinking guest" is an insult to dawn t and your lifeline in your chosen career, hospitality - GUEST SATISFACTION! What gives you the right to be this demeaning and make such an arrogant statement ?

When you book the Orangery at 8-00pm you expect the Orangery at 8-00pm and not pathetic excuses on one's special night saying you were busy. As dawn t specifically points out, you weren't busy/fully booked when she arranged their anniversary event.

Is it the fact dawn t is simply a local lass spending what could be classed as an inconsiderable amount of money in your establishment in comparison to the larger parties, that she is relegated to second/third class service whilst the larger groups receive a better class of service, I hesitate to use the words first class as it doesn't apply unless every guest is satisfied and, as this event experienced by dawn t shows, that was not the case.

This response is purely my personal opinion at the way you have handled, or mishandled this complaint. I hope you do host dawn t again, should she choose to visit, and get it right next time.

Lastly, ponder this, most people get married once. But after that they celebrate that event annually, perhaps you need to consider this as a more important, and consistent, alternative revenue stream than you currently seem to.
