We did not stay here but this adorable little boutique hotel has a wonderful bar/restaurant area where 8 of us who were renting a house near by went to eat and watch American football play offs. The staff was super nice, the food was excellent and we enjoyed our selves tremendously. If you are in the area don't miss this...

Your comment is heart-warming to us. I am going to communicate it to all the team. It is necessary to say that you are also great customers. Thank you for having taken time to draft this opinion.

This intimate little hotel in the hamlet of Javilla at Playa San Miguel comfortably fits into the neighborhood of modest homes despites its modern stylish design. It doesn't spoil the town that consists of a few houses, a tin-roofed school and a church. You have to drive a few miles to San Francisco to find a store or a gas...

After a long and harrowing drive from Tamarindo, we were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Clean, contemporary rooms with all the amenities you could need. The staff is very friendly and helpful, more than willing to arrange a tour or shuttle service, etc. The biggest surprise was the food - outstanding. We ate all our meals from their kitchen and...

We drove about four hours from San Jose, the last 15 km or so on roads that would be a bit nasty in the rainy season without 4-wheel drive. My comments are basically 'ditto' those of the bulk of reviewers, I cannot say enough how pleasant and helpful the hotel staff and owner, Jean-Luc were. We stayed in the penthouse,...

5 stars for what it is --- Attractive, modern, comfortable yet economical air-conditioned rooms. Friendly, attentive, caring, informative, multi-lingual service. Delicious European dining with sublime balanced seasoning. 5-minutes from a long, pristine, empty, soothing beach. Privacy when we wanted it, and company when we didn't. The hotel's owner of 5 months, Jean-Luc, quickly became an old friend, and referred us...

I loved Hotel Laguna Mar. The rooms were clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful, the food was great and it was my favorite part of our trip. My husband said he didn't feel like he was in Costa Rica. It is true that this felt like a very modern more European hotel. It kind of looked like it...

Great food! Beautiful room! The owners are very cultured, kind, and accommodated all our needs. The location is just what I was looking for, isolated enough, but close to the beach. I have spent time flitting around Costa Rica before, but this was one stop where I changed my itinerary to stay at longer. The staff is helpful in getting...

I recently booked a trip to Costa Rica with my wife for our 11th anniversary in October, the height of rainy season. It was our first trip to Costa Rica and we wanted to experience all that we could, without all the crowds and tourists. So we rented a car, and most importantly a GPS. (roads are not marked so...

Hotel Laguna del Mar combines the best of two worlds. The hotel itself is luxurious – pool, air-conditioning, hot showers, comfortable beds, television, and gourmet food. Yet the hotel is set in a remote and tranquil countryside. I would have described the 20-minute walk to the beach as breathtaking… but then I saw the actual beach. Playa San Miguel is...

My friend and I stayed here for two nights after a traumatic time in San Jose. It was absolute paradise and a very peaceful place to relax. The setting is beautiful, 10 mins from the beach, surrounded by countryside filled with monkeys, birds, and other costa rican animals, and the lovely pool is definitely a bonus. The staff we're all...

“I think the rooms on the upper floor would be better than the ones on the ground just for the view and added privacy. Our room was right beside the pool and on ground level with the walkway, so we had to keep the curtains drawn most times.”
