This was the fourth time we have stayed at Sandy Balls. But the second time we have stayed in the Brambles.. my grandchildren love the hot tubs. I enjoy the luxury of the indulgent lodge. They thouroughly enjoyed the activities especially the disco pool party... We have already booked for November for the Forest of Light. The only concern 2 adults commented on was that the single beds were very narrow for an adult to sleep in ... otherwise we all had a brilliant time

So after having to rearrange twice due to covid we finally arrived at sandy balls. Never been before but had always wanted to. First impressions truly beautiful location. Horses cows pigs all wander freely in this area. Seamless arrival. Given keys and map by lovely staff. Arrived at our lodge and can only say WOW!! 2 bed vendee lodge in the brambles. Massive wrapaound decking. Every conceivable extra you need even down to a new tea towel dishwasher tablets hand wash shower pack. List is endless. Kitchen saucepans all high end. Massive washing machine and dishwasher. Really beautiful lodge and immaculate. Well done cleaning team. First night went for a walk. Bought some lovely food from the shop. Try the co op garlic spatchcock chicken. Gorgeous and only 6 quid. Food and drink is very reasonable here if you need supplies. Audreys is very very expensive. 3.40 for a latte which was warm and not like latte at all. Food is very overpriced and not that good. Restaurant s lovely inside but they probably play on the fact there isnt much around for families as there were a lot in here. The other bar i think woodside terrace is better. Slightly cheaper. Takeaway i gather was good value. Swimming pool was lovely and warm but we felt guards should have stopped kids and adults bombing in the pool and an idiot grandad who kept flipping his grandaughter. The one thing that dissappointed us was the very poor adult entertainment. 2 singers in the bar (not great) and live video performances in the square which was too cold to sit outside anyway. Terrace area was totally dead maybe because it was off season. Nonetheless the park was sold out so they should bear this in mind re entertainment. We concur with other reviews re speed on the park. Staff are the worst offenders literally zooming around in their buggies and trucks! We ended up.eating out every night at pubs ie horse and groom and the george on the river. I did alpaca walk which was a massive dissapointment. I thought we would have a good walk but no we arrived early. Left bang on 10.40 and after a 5 min talk went on literally a 15 min walk! I was gobsmacked that what was sold was a 30 minute walk! 15 minutes of this walk was talk and the alpacas eating! I love alpaca walks but this i am afraid was very expensive for what it is and you literally walk them for 10 minutes and not even.a woodland or forest walk. Just thru the park! All in all we would prob go back but prob earlier in the year. Just a quick note. If you want a big food shop visit the furlong shopping centre. Beautiful shopping park and a big sainsburys. 10mins from park. Lovely vintage high street. Christchurch harbour and high street is a must. Park in the priory car park. Prepare to be blown away by the beauty of the church and the harbour.

This review is a bit of an essay so apologies, but I like to be thorough, particularly when somewhere is as great as this. I was looking to book somewhere as a surprise trip away for my husband's 40th birthday. We love a lodge in a gorgeous and peaceful location, especially with a hot tub, so I was looking all over the UK, but I kept being drawn back to Sandy Balls (I think I found the name humorous but I realise it is called that for a historical reason!). Sandy Balls was the first place I saw and I knew there had to be a reason for it attracting me so I booked up and only told my husband we were going away a week before, but I didn't tell him where. I knew the New Forest was beautiful and had wanted to visit for sometime, so thought this would be the ideal location for us. Booking and paying it off were no problems as the website is easy to navigate. I also purchased a birthday pack before we arrived. Normally, the idea is that you decorate using the pack on the morning of the person's birthday. However, my husband's birthday didn't actually fall on that week so I wanted to have him walk into the lodge already decorated. The girl I spoke to regarding this on the phone (I feel awful as I have the name Beth in my head but I can't remember - she was just lovely though) said that she would see to it that it was decorated for me. First off, don't be fooled by the map of Sandy Balls on the website. The place looks huge... but it's actually bigger than you think. I've never been to Center Parcs as don't have a family and it's never appealed to me, but I can imagine that the whole central "village" aspect of it is similar. Sandy Balls will not bankrupt you though I'm sure! We had a lovely and well-organised greeting when we drove in and were directed to our location on a map. Now I'm quite good at directions but I really underestimated how big the park was and it took me a bit to get my bearings. I had booked us a luxury lodge with a hot tub and we were put into the loveliest location off Field Way, 245a. It was right by the walk up to the nature trail and it was absolutely perfect for us. As promised, the lodge was decorated with happy birthday signs and balloons, with even a birthday card for my husband. He really loved it. We took our dog and even he had a goodie bag left for him, consisting of a blanket, water bottle, pull toy and a packet of treats! The lodge was absolutely immaculate, truly. I had stayed at a top London hotel for an event a week before and even my room there wasn't as immaculate as this lodge. Everything was catered for. Our welcome pack was really thorough and towels were provided for us. In the kitchen, there were some dishwasher tablets left out for us but as it's just the two of us, when we stay places, I prefer just to wash up as I go along but couldn't see any washing up liquid. There was however a brand new tea towel, wrapped up, and when I opened that and unrolled it, inside was a new scourer, cloth and small squeeze bottle of washing up liquid. In both the ensuite and the main bathroom, there was a pack containing conditioning shampoo, body wash and hand soap. The bed was so comfortable. We didn't have any bedside tables as the room was quite small but we I just used my suitcase to stand up and rest my book and phone on. (I think some small ones could be fitted but this is no problem.) All kitchen utensils were to hand and bags provided for recycling. Our hot tub was serviced regularly during our stay, much to our dog's delight as he made friends with the guy doing it and was so pleased to see him! And speaking of which, it was perfect for the security of our dog as our veranda was gated and nice and secure for him to just roam on it so we could have the patio door open for him. It was an absolute pleasure to be right by the nature trail. If you walk it fully and really go into the woods, it is huge. I think we spent a good couple of hours walking there one night and really misjudged our timing as it began to get dark so we quickly found our way out. We didn't see another person and encountered wild deer, squirrels, and an owl (it really had begun to start getting dark!). On our way back through the site, we got to see the huge range of different types of accommodation. We saw maintenance going on through the park all the time to keep it nice, and it really is lovely. We liked the fact that the bins were accessible and we could recycle well. Our own experience of the central location where the restaurants, kids' zones, shop, etc. are was just the shop. We did think about getting a takeaway from the restaurants a couple of times but found this wasn't necessary as we brought some food and purchased from the shop. The shop is so well stocked. It is absolutely full of necessary items, groceries, fresh coffee, ice cream to scoop, and a whole few aisles full of souvenirs and gifts. All the staff we encountered were really lovely and it really made our stay a pleasure. We were only half an hour from the beaches and one afternoon, we drove from one end of the New Forest to the other. There are lots of places to park up and take pictures. It's so lovely to see the wild ponies, cows and donkeys, but obviously, it's nice that people are respectful and keep their distance from them. After all, this is their land! Without experiencing that aspect of the park, we could clearly see that there is a lot for families to do. The activity timetable looks fun and you can book alpaca walking and Segway riding. The park seems so safe and accommodating and we have already started recommending it to lots of friends since we have arrived back (less than 24 hours ago!).

This was our fourth stay at Sandy Balls and it was another lovely, relaxing week. We had a Zen Lodge with a hot tub - the Zen was nice and clean and had a welcoming pack of goodies! We had a couple of good meals in Aubrey's whilst we were there (Erin you are an absolute star!). We did lots of walking (many footpaths nearby) and took the bus from Fordingbridge to Sailsbury for the day (well worth a visit). It turned cold during our week and we had trouble turning the heating on and called Maintenance. Carl turned up on time and quickly sorted for us - thank you! We can't wait to book our next stay.
