#1 of 6 B&Bs / Inns in Agaete
Known as "La Casa Roja" or Red House, this mansion was built as an autumnal residence in the centre of agricultural land growing oranges, avocados, mangos and papayas. This surprising Hotel oozes harmony from all four walls. In its exquisite decoration the clean lines stand out, along with the wood harmoniously blended with bright fabrics, the colour range and the collection of photographs, paintings and antiques lining the corridors and rooms. The garden captivates visitors due to its centuries-old trees, fruit trees and the care with which it is looked after, perfumed in spring by the delicate smell of saffron.

A peaceful haven, amazing gardens with chickens wandering about, very welcoming and helpful staff. We didn't want to leave! Our room was huge and quiet. There's a swimming pool in the garden - unheated, so a bit cold for me in March but my wife loved it. There was a big selection at breakfast. Dinner is taken communally at two large, round tables - we weren't sure about that at first but it was actually nice to chat to other guests and we had a good time. We're vegetarian and they catered for us very well.

We have stayed here twice and it's a very special place. The Finca once held almost the entire valley and still has orange groves and gardens around it. It's quiet, historical and from another time. Staff and management were very friendly and helpful. Dinners are simple but good and we enjoyed them and the company of other guests at the table. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the pool is good and has an amazing view up through the valley. There are several spectacular walks/hikes that can be made from here.

If you are looking for a quiet remote place where you can relax and be own your own, this place could work (especially if you have a car.) We stayed at this rural hotel for two nights. Our room was simple, on the smallish side, but clean. Although there wasn’t any air conditioning, with the windows open the room cooled down at night. However, we were here in late October, in mid summer it might be a different story. It was very quiet at night until the 5 am when the rosters beginning their calling. Wi-fi was not available in the rooms and was weak in the common areas. While the breakfast was decent, the dinner meals were awful. Had we had a car, we would have eaten elsewhere. The staff was nice and not intrusive.

On a two week hiking trek to the Canaries, my initial two nights were here...and what a wonderful introduction to the land, the people, and the charm of these islands. Driven directly here from the airport, I was greeted by Lourdes who is the epitome of grace. She gave me the choice of two rooms, briefly showed me around the stunning property, then gave me the freedom to recover from jet lag at my own pace. The two days and nights here included dips in the pool, two wonderful dinners orchestrated by Reni, two stellar breakfasts handled by a host of helpful people, as well as post hike recovery times strolling the grounds, observing the chickens, and relaxing. Note to hikers: The water here is non potable, but the common area has ample supplies of bottled water. Upon departure, I knew that I had just experienced a unique place in the world as my introduction to the Canaries.

Far away from the tourist places of Gran Canaria, we spent two beautiful nights in this incredible Finca, in the valley of Agaete. The view from the the swimming pool is fantastic and relaxing, the room was really full of charme. We had dinner in the hotel and we felt like in the 19th century. Thank you to all the staff, really kind and helpful.
