The Royal hotel hosts a great pub, run by the nicest couple Lisa and Mark Millar, great food, excellent service, very welcoming. If you are in the area, it's definitely well worth a visit! Would highly recommend.

My wife and I stayed here on a Friday night prior to attending a wedding in the area on the Saturday. We arrived at 3pm to find the pub bustling with customers. Lesley checked us in and showed us to our room which overlooked the car park and the babbling river. The room was very spacious and well equipped. We...

This was our second stay here. Rooms very clean and equipped with everything you need. The staff are the greater asset... Very friendly, service great at breakfast. Lovely stay in a lovely pub! At £85 for a couple a really well priced establishment. Will definitely stay again.

A back of hotel room with views of roofs and windows but no complaints as quiet. Large enough bedroom and bathroom with comfortable bed. Shower lacking in power. decent TV. Good pub bar with a number of real ales. Typical pub food with changing specials. We enjoyed. Friendly staff. Great breakfasts. Large car park with places reserved for hotel guests....

Just been here for Mother's Day. Extremely disappointed with the service and food. The oldest of the waitresses was lacking table side manners, clearly didn't want to be there. When the food was eventually served to the correct table (after we called the waitress over) two of the meals were missing items that were described on the menu. No one...

We were sorry to read of your experience on an exceptionally busy Sunday. On a sunny Mother’s Day and with so many pre-booked tables, we did try to accommodate all those who hadn’t booked. However, we now recognize that at a certain pinch point in the afternoon we should have stopped taking food orders earlier than we did to allow...

I really enjoyed my lunch here yesterday lunch time on the way to Bakewell. The salmon with crushed potatoes and veg was very tasty. My hubby wasn't too impressed with his hot beef sandwich as the beef was quite tough but really enjoyed the roast potatoes. Overall quite enjoyable

We stayed here with a large group of friends, for which the hotel catered very well. (We had an evening function or two, for which they had a very suitable room.) Like a lot of hotels of this sort in the UK, being an old building, many of the guest rooms are on the small side, and the plumbing is...

We were enjoying a short break in Hayfield and decided to have dinner at The Royal Hotel. It looks like a traditional country pub, with a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere and roaring log fire. I was expecting traditional pub food, but got so much more. The local pork belly was the most delicious meal I've had in a long time....
