Absolutely stunning views from our room.
We did have some issues during our stay though.
They started with someone parking in our spot. We already were going to have difficultly as we had a trailer with us. We resolved the issue ourselves as reception weren’t particularly helpful when asked about parking. Our resolution worked until we had to go out for dinner and, upon our return, found someone parked in our designated spot with their trailer.
We had also asked for no stairs due to medical issues. When we got to our ‘room’ we discovered there was three stairs to get to the door. This caused some major issues but we resolved them with difficulty.
The room was basically a ‘portable’ with air con. Not what we were expecting at a golf club but I shouldn’t be surprised as we went for the budget option. It was around the $140 mark I believe for the night.
The positives were that the beds were beautifully comfortable and the room was spacious.
We were rudely awoken around 6.30am the next morning by a huge flock of galahs who descended on the gold course. And about 20 minutes later, a huge ‘boom’ startled us all, as well as the galahs I am sure it was intended for. We did have a slight panic about a possible gunman but then worked out that bird control was what it probably what the noise was. A ‘heads up’ about this situation when we booked in would have been very appreciated.
A totally different experience to last time we stayed. So I can only hope this was an experience that won’t repeat itself.

Clean and comfortable but lacking.
No oven in the kitchen and no sharp knife other than a blunt bread knife. Glasses, mugs and cutlery needed to be washed before we could use them.
For the price I don’t think at least basic room services would be too much to expect. Food and service at the restaurant was very disappointing.

Dined here on one of their bigger Tuesday nights and selected the lamb shanks and lamb stroganoff from their Chef’s specials, a limited list of four items. The serving of stroganoff had three small pieces (bite size of lamb) which was absurd. The lamb shank was not that tender, the mash hard and the vegetables must have just been waived over the hot water as they were raw!
If it wasn’t happy hour you would not go here for just a meal - only visiting the region but off the list forever with so many other dining options.

We visited on Australia day to play the pokies. The staff member who dealt with us in the pokie room at around lunch-time (blonde middle-aged lady who was also the cashier on that shift) was quite unfriendly and completed gave off the vibe of "I hate my job, don't want to be here, and view customers as mostly an annoyance". The tea served at the machines must have been premixed, because there was no tea-bag served with it. That is fine if it saves them some money, but anyone who had bothered to look at it before serving it, would not have done so, as it was the weak to the point of ridiculousness. I like weak tea, but this was truly ridiculous. Like drinking hot water. The small biscuit it came with had clearly been left out in the air, as it had a stale humidity thing happening. No problem. We quickly went elsewhere to gamble and spend our hard earned money. And our experience was the better for it.

We had heard quite a few good reports about the new chef at the golf club bistro, so we were looking forward to a very good meal. Unfortunately so disappointed!! My husband had the Scotch fillet, tough and tasteless, salad little or no dressing. I had the lamb rump. I wanted it medium rare, but didn’t have the option. The lamb rump was an overdone, dry blackstrap of lamb. It did have some flavour, but so dry! Menu read with broccolini on a bed of mash. Came with broccoli on a mountain of mash! Broccoli is good, but don’t say it’s broccolini when it’s not! I will give some benefit of doubt with supply!!! Not rushing back.

We have been coming to this resort for 30 years. The rooms used to have lovely drapes and bedspreads but now these have been replaced with blinds (too much light comes in making it difficult to sleep) and white doonas both of which make the rooms soulless and boring. The sofa has also been replaced with uncomfortable tub chairs. Also it is no longer possible to have a nice hot shower/spa as the hot water is only tepid at best! Not good enough for a resort such as this. Let’s hope things improve before next year’s visit.

Well this was a mixed feast. Ordered garlic bread, 3 plates of Scallops Mornay, 2 grilled whiting, and an American Pork Ribs. Garlic bread all ok and hard to get wrong. The Scallops were excellent!!! Could of eaten another 3 plates. The whiting had two fillets on each plate, well cooked with a serving of chips and salad.
Now for the Ribs. Having just had Ribs two nights earlier across the road at the Mulwala Club, they had set the bar very high. Unfortunately these didn’t even come close. The presentation looked good until it came the time to cut them up. Even with a chainsaw it would have be challenging. The ribs were so tough, dry and tasteless. They were over cooked and burnt in many places. I stopped after a few mouthfuls. They simply were not at all pleasant to eat. After the tasty scallops, the ribs were a complete letdown.
The other letdown for the venue was the amount of flys inside. Not sure where they were coming from, but they were everywhere in the bistro. Most annoying. Could not see any bug zapper.
Staff were pleasant and smiling though.

We live nearby and hope that this club will provide good meals at a reasonable price and again severely disappointed. 4 meals and 3 out of 4 were not worth going out for. Sent back the entree calamari, $20 = 5 dried up pieces calamari with a limp lifeless salad. Fish was worse ever as the batter looked okay but when you cut into it it was dried up!! Really how hard. 10 years this place has offered .. under called meals. Please be better!!!

I am currently reading about the new menu at YMGCR. Last Thursday week ago my husband and I went to your Bistro for dinner because the new menu sounded lovely. The Seafood Marinara looks lovely in the paper, unlike the gluggy mess that I got. After about 45 minutes waiting for Garlic Bread and 2 main courses I went to inquire as to how much longer we were going to wait..it shouldn't take that long for meals let alone 1 serve of Garlic Bread. We were told it wouldn't be much longer and about 10 minutes later our meals did indeed arrive minus Garlic Bread which showed up about 5 more minutes later. Sadly the meals were very unimpressive. As we where about to leave the table our meals showed up again, also minus Garlic Bread. I assume the first lot was a hastily thrown together effort to shut us up. Had we waited and said nothing it would have been well over an hour before we got our meals. This is really not good enough and we weren't the only ones looking at our watches and wondering where their meals were. We certainly won't be back anytime soon but if you are going to put positive articles in the paper you should make sure the experience is positive.
