My heading sums it up. Not many frills, but clean and efficient with friendly and helpful staff. My room ( single ) was small, but in true Japanese style all I needed was designed in. It's in an interesting area, lots of quaint side streets to explore and plenty of varied eateries within easy walking distance. Bus ( non-stop to... More

I stayed about a week and was very happy with the comfort and convenience. Good bed, excellent service, short walk to the station. Even the make-it-yourself coffee in the room was good (280 yen per cup though). There was some cigarette smell in the hallway but I kept the air purifier running the whole time and my room was pleasant.... More

A good central location and a short walk to the train station. The rooms are small, but we requested twin beds that gave us a little bigger room. The hotel and rooms are clean and the bathroom is modern with a nice bathtub. We had an average breakfast one morning in the coffee shop/dining area, which had both American and... More

Stayed five days (four nights) across New Year in Tokyo. Chose the Daiichi in Kichijoji because I have stayed in a few of their properties elsewhere and the experience was good. However, a lack of availability at a sensible price drove me out the the suburbs - standard twin, JPY28,000 per night, booked two months in advance. The hotel is... More

The hotel is very comfortable, clean and modern. Several restaurants located within the facility all are top-notch. The staff Is extremely friendly and cordial. Proximity to the train station is about a 10 minute walk and easy to find. The area is flanked with hundreds of restaurants and is a shopping mecca.

I am a frequent traveler to Japan and stayed many times in Daiichi. This is a typical Japanese hotel so expectations in regards to room size should be set accordingly. Other reviews mentioned differences between rooms that face the street compared to those that face the internal lobby, however in my opinion there are minor and rooms are very similar... More

Kichijoji is an excellent neighborhood to enjoy all things Japanese. Set several blocks away from the busy train station, with an attractive atrium foyer and multiple dining venues, the Dai-ichi is an accessible and comfortable hotel choice for westerners. We appreciated the absence of smoking odor in the elevators and other public areas, which couldn't be said for the business... More

I used to stay at Tokyu Inn, which is closer to the train station but switched to Dai Ichi Hotel for this visit. Experience is vastly superior, especially since the rooms are newly renovated. While typically tiny, it is nicely furnished with new linen (vs. the thread bare options at the other establishment) and attractive decor. Lobby area is also... More

This is a very nice hotel about a three to five minute walk from the train station but still in the main part of town. I arrived early (mid morning) after an overnight flight knowing that check in time was mid afternoon. The reception staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating, whilst there was not a room available... More

“Ask for a higher floor room, not facing the atrium. Also, go for the rate that includes breakfast. It is one of those curious Japanese breakfast buffets with a global menu (Japanese, Chinese, and western foods) but abundant with a lot of choices.”
