Popped in yesterday ( saturday 24th) to try the Lairds kitchen having heard so many good reviews. The castle is amazing if a little untidy outside but it must take some looking after. we went down into the tea room < no disabled access, but we managed >. the food was excellent lovely home made cake. big dissapointment was the...

A hidden jewel. We stayed in the Symbister suite for 4 nights and could have spent the entire 3 1/2 weeks of our journey here! The castle is very quiet and just what 2 tired soles needed. There are 3 bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths, a sitting room, alcove and full kitchen. Joan and Donna are so pleasant & patient and...

This place is fabulous! I always stop here when visiting family in the area its a small castle that is still in its original condition when still occupied until a few years ago. The cafe serves typical local food served with a modern twist, Jean the lady who looks after the whole place is lovely. Recommend a visit here to...

Had a lovely time at the castle. History surrounding it was extraordinary and well described. Finished visit with trip to tea room which is obligatory. We had lunch and desert which wasn't cheap but worth it for a treat Well worth a visit!!

I cannot rate this magical place highly enough . Set amidst beautiful acres of Scottish countryside this ancient castle lies . Not commercially driven or marketed wildly but simply understated and brilliant because of its simplicity . You can stay in rooms here and the Tearoom is set in the Castle kitchens called the Lairds Kitchen. The lady that runs...

Decided to visit for a spot of lunch as we had heard good reports about this place. We entered and made our way to the "Laird's Kitchen". We seated ourselves at one of the tables and waited to be served. And waited. And waited. Eventually we got fed up being ignored and left. Now, had it been busy, we may...

I took my family who came up from England here. We had been before and the service was ok but not great. However, upon this visit the service was atrocious. The lady took our order and we waited and our meal came and then the lady serving rudly asked "do you want drinks" ummm this is a COFFEE shop! We...

Off the beaten track but a lovely lovely place. Joan, her daughter and son in law were friendly and knowledgeable about the history of the place. We only stopped for a quick visit and morning tea - the coffee and cake is very good. Being part of the Hay Clan I enjoyed it immensly

The Castle is falling apart, the interior is very poor and therefore the price for entering(£8) is way overrated. Also no photo allowed, which is not fair for this price. And they asking for "generous donation" on a box on your way out. It would be ok for £3/ head. Sorry, but that's how I feel like after visiting.

We are just back from our 13th annual visit to Delgatie – staying in Hayfield for a week in July every year since a significant birthday in 2002. Never has anything been less than perfect: the accommodation is wonderful, the Castle is wonderful, the grounds are amazing. Over the years we have invited friends from Scotland, England, France, America to...
