The Grand Hotel d'Uriage is an historical building in the middle of a beautiful park with the charm and taste of the XIX century French "Art de vivre". the rooms are spacious and nicely decorated. The Spa is large with two thermal swimming pool, steam bath and sauna. The gastronomic restaurant is excellent with a very raffinated cuisine elaborated by the chef Carmen. The service is of outstanding quality.
One of the best address in France not to be missed

The service was superb, the food exquisite, the wine exceptional (two bottles) Three hour, seven course meal, at $300/US per person. Expensive but the best meal I've had in my life anywhere. It was incredible and I'd recommend it highly to anyone prepared to spend a bit extra to have an outstanding culinary experience

This was a stop over for us on the drive down to Provence. It was all booked on line with virtually no reviews to speak of, so it was in at the deep end.

The Hotel is located right next to the beautiful public spa baths. Both buildings have lovely exteriors, and the front door to the hotel is located in a pedestrianised area, which you are still able to drive right up to. The hotel and the spa are the main focal points of this little village, which is a comfortable 9 km past Grenoble.

Our room was extremely comfortable, clean and spacious. The extra bed for our son was a good size and sturdier than the usual camping bed efforts. The bathroom was also large, and came well equipped with one of the best range of hotel freebie spa products I have seen. The products were all derived from the spa waters, so we had small tins of facial spa spray (which was well used on the beach the following week!) and lovely exfoliating and moisturising creams. I usually don't bother much with hotel toiletries, but these were really excellent.

The hotel restaurant was fully booked on the night of our stay, and when we looked at the menu, we could see why. It was pricey, but as it was packed with locals, we thought that this was probably a good recommendation. Book the restaurant in advance if you want to dine there.

Children are not allowed into the hotel spa waters until after 7 pm (which I can understand), but we were rewarded with the place pretty much all to ourselves. The waters were lovely and especially welcome after a 6 hour journey.

The hotel is located next door to the local park which is beautifully maintained. The Hotel terrace overlooks the park, and it was a treat to eat breakfast outside with such a lovely view of both the park and the mountains. Breakfast was good, with a fair selection of local jams and honies as well as some other home made specialities.

There is a lovely carousel in the park, right next to a mini golf course. There are also some 'suky' horses which are pedal race horses - see the photo. Our son absolutely loved it and went racing around the perimeter of the park countless times. All are within 5 minutes walk of the hotel.

The town itself is very quaint, slightly old fashioned, and very relaxing as most spa towns tend to be. There are a few restaurants along the main street, and we enjoyed a plat du jour looking out on the park and the mountains behind. Nothing fancy - just very good.

As a stop over, the town and hotel are highly recommended, especially if you have children who need to so some running around! (Make sure that you arrive later in the day so that you don't need to wait around for the spa). The park is lovely, the hotel is very good and offers excellent value for money. As a base for exploring Grenoble it's perfect, but otherwise a couple of days would be the most that you could probably stay here without looking for something more.

The website pictures don't do this hotel justice - it's a gem.

Old hotel, old rooms, very poor maintenance and if you don’t speak French the service is non-existent / rude at best.

The pool area and garden is missing a lot of love. Broken sun loungers, no towels near the pool, dirty indoor pool.

The restaurant has nice food but horrible service. Took 20 minutes from sitting down until someone finally came to take the drinks order.

Bar terrace extremely dirty, run down tables and not cared for, even saw a rat casually walking across the terrace not scared of humans.

Except for the food in the restaurant and the airconditioning in the room there is really nothing good I can say about this hotel. So I do not recommend staying here.

We booked for two nights but stayed one more because we couldn't bear leaving - I wish we could have stayed longer! The staff were smiley, helpful and friendly. All the products in the bathrooms are from the deluxe 'Uriage' range. The hotel is calm, airy, luminous, set in a park next to a little village where you can find a butcher's, cheesemaker, two patisseries, snack bars/restaurants and a few cafés. There's a fabulous two-star Michelin restaurant next door, 'Maison Aribert' for 'gourmands' or there's the accompanying 'café' - 'Café A' - offering delicious food at affordable prices. We didn't eat at the hotel so I can't comment on the food, but the breakfast looked wonderful - we tend to have light breakfasts so went out.

There are plenty of woodlands, mountains and fields to walk/trek through as well as the castle on top of the hill. Grenoble is nearby as is the only French Revolution museum in France (in Vizille) set in a castle and park. Lots to do for travellers who want to visit the area but if not, the hotel has two pools, a sauna and sunbathing area (the steam room - hamman was closed due to Covid-19 restrictions). Even though the hotel was full, we felt private and unaware of people around us.

We took one of the attic rooms 'Mansard'. You should state you want a 'park' view as the other side, though fine, is not as spectacular. Warning: as I said, you do travel back in time so most shops and restaurants are closed Mondays, many on Tuesdays as well (inc the hotel's restaurant) and some on Sundays, so you need to be a little organised when planning meals.

We spent three nights in a standing room (park & terrace), named after Stendhal and located at the very end of the second floor’s corridor. This room offered access to a nice, large and private terrace overlooking the street and the park. We had breakfast at the hotel, and one dinner there as well. Although very good on average, our stay left us with mixed feelings. Some staff members were beaming and outstanding, others were unsmiling and looked bored. Our room was spotless most of the time (changing slippers and bathrobes every two days is great) but our accommodation was not so well serviced on other instances. One morning, a maid knocked at our door to make up our room at a time when we had already been serviced and the “do not disturb sign” was hung outside : how is that possible?! The hotel’s private parking lot is not large enough to accommodate all guests’ cars, something which is not advertised and which puts you at risk of wasting a lot of time if you return late to the hotel and find no space for your car in the streets (beware of Friday and Sunday evenings). A (false) fire alarm was triggered off one afternoon and, after having evacuated our room through the stairs, we ended up with no information or instructions given by staff on duty. The property is historical but our room looked more like a 1980s hotel accommodation, especially the bathroom which used to be modern a couple of decades ago. We would rather have either a fully renovated room in a modern style, or a fully vintage room, not this strange in-between option. To sum up, this could be a great place but it proved quite inconsistent during our stay especially as regards service.

The superior double terrace room was small, all form no function. Badly arranged design if pretty. The bathroom was a complete let down, smeary mirror, signs of pink mildew on grout and sealant. Standard drippy shower. Separate toilet on other side of the suite, with no washhand basin, requiring one to walk to around to the bathroom... Not particularly hygienic. Terrace seating mucky, with average view. Due to check in and out times we had no time to enjoy the spa, and the breakfast was average. Efficient reserved staff.

I've stayed in plenty of independent and chain hotels in the area but Le Grand Hotel Uriage is still my first choice when traveling to the Grenoble region. (I've probably stayed there 20 times over the last 8 years or so). The location is stunning. It's name "Les Terrasses" comes from the fact that the backside of the hotel has a wonderful terrace overlooking a beautiful park, that makes it look like the hotel has stately gardens.

The staff are very welcoming and sincere and non-French speakers will not struggle. The hotel and rooms are immaculately clean. The rooms are of a reasonable size but what I like about them is that they remind me more of staying in a friend's home rather than a formula hotel room.

I've never eaten at the Michelin star restaurant but on Sun - Tue they run the dining room as a bistro with a smaller simpler menu. The food is very good and of high quality. The breakfast they serve is outstanding. It is simple but the quality is outstanding with almost everything made in-house. I travel extensively and it is one of my favorite breakfasts anywhere.

The only thing I don't like about the hotel is that whenever I visit it is always for business and I never get to share it with my wife. It is a pretty romantic place and definitely one to share!

We chose this hotel because it was dog-friendly, offered first class dining with overnight possibilities, an adjacent park (to walk our two dogs) and a spa with a pool. We were not disappointed - except the pool is more for exercise and therapy than swimming (however, not obvious from the information on the hotel's website).
The restaurant and adjacent bistrot have been recently modernised and decorated. By contrast, the hotel is old fashioned and in need of modernistaion/renovation (also the bedroom facilities). A further minus point is the closeness of the next door casino. Those wishing a quiet night's sleep should ask for a room on the park side of the hotel. A further minus was the breakfast buffet both as regards ambiance (especially the buffet entrance area) and the modesty of the items on the breakfast buffet - with only do-it-yourself boiled eggs and pancakes as hot dish alternatives. We also noted that used dishes were not immediately cleared from the breakfast tables which did not improve the general dining ambiance.
On the plus side, we and our dogs were made most welcome by the universally friendly, helpful, smiling and efficient staff. Viator e cani Coloniae

I have been in this hotel multiple time in the past 10 years and I never got disappointed.
It conveniently located in the centre of Uriage, a nice town not too far from Grenoble, and very close to the park.
Staff is very welcoming and trying to satisfy your needs. Rooms are very quiet and reasonably large with good set of amenities with SPA quality.
The bathrooms are very large with convenient separation between the toilet and the bath/shower.

The restaurant is an experience. It a well deserved Michelin 2 start restaurant. Breakfast is excellent.
During late spring/summer the possibility to have the breakfast outside is a plus; the view on the park before to start a working day is a battery charger.

The SPA may need some refurbishment, it starts to suffer for the age.
