The Fighting Cocks is in a great location with views over the estuary. We stayed the one night in the Luxury rooms accommodation. The rooms are very small, with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the estuary. Not sure where the luxury description comes from other than the availability of towelling robes. The rooms could be cleaner with dust around the...

Well if you're looking for somewhere to stay for Cartmel races then this place is great. however although room comfortable and clean, we returned home from the races to find our ground floor room was unlocked and open door, so just a heads up that this sort of thing can happen. To be fair, the manager on duty was concerned...

All in all a great place: I've stopped in nicer rooms, but this really was absolutely fine, especially considering the price. Our room was Silverdale- high up, with a great view. Bed was comfortable, shower a little cramped for height (I'm 6' 4", to be fair) but otherwise very good. Food and beer in the pub above average and OK...

This fine place is somewhere you are made to feel part of the family rather than a paying guest. I stayed in a small single room, cheap but not overpriced. It was quiet and comfortable, but the toilet was down the hall next to the breakfast room. Thoughtfully a towelling robe had been provided - useful for those journeys! Despite...

Staff here are extremely friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a delicious meal, the rooms are comfortable and clean, with everything we needed. Situated overlooking the estuary, the views are beautiful, although our room was at the side. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel and will stay there again.

Excellent weekend away in a spacious modern clean room overlooking the estuary. Although binoculars are advertised as being in every room, ours lacked them, it didn't matter to us, the view was pleasant enough. Good English breakfast to start the day, although the black pudding was a little bit tough. Friendly staff and very apologetic when we couldn't have a...

This is a superb hotel in a lovely location. We were given the Yealand Room which was very nice with a comfortable bed and a great view of the Estuary. We arrived on the Friday which was Steak Night and must say that our food was lovely, washed down with the free bottle of red wine which was part of...

Stayed here on the last night of our holiday - got an excellent mid week deal and the room was fantastic. Stunning views over the estuary, huge room, comfortable and lots of little details like binoculars for bird watching. Pub restaurant was good - standard pub menu but tasty and well priced. Hotel and pub staff were unfailingly friendly and...
