Masillan it is a beautiful castle like chateau in Uchaux. The communal areas are very nice with a large central courtyard/ terrace and pool area with a small bar for drinks and light lunch. First impressions were good. it is a very pretty property. Our room however was in an annex to the main building. It looked spacious and light but on being there overnight several aspects of the room just didn't really work well/became annoying. The aim was eco friendly which we are all in favour of but not at any cost. The dressing room/tea coffee area had a light which detected movement but it switched off after 1 second not ideal if pouring boiling water as it was dark without any light. You had to learn to select clothes/make tea while waving one arm. There were no bed side tables, only a wide headboard so you had to awkwardly reach behind you for drinks etc. Table/flat space generally was in short supply especially in the bathroom where it was non existent (a real bug bear of mine). There was a single soap dispenser in the shower for shower gel/shampoo again a good eco idea but it was not working properly. The staff were friendly although offered no help with bags. Man in reception very helpful - he lent us bikes for the nearby restaurant ( Le Temps de Vivre) where we ate a delicious meal (hotel restaurant was full)

I stayed here back in March and am now wanting to visit again so I feel motivated this morning to leave this review and tell everyone how magical it was.

Honestly, I’ve never had a more relaxing stay somewhere in my life. Everything about this place is so peaceful. I loved waking up in the morning with a cup of coffee, walking the grounds, and visiting the chickens. It was exactly the environment I was looking for to unplug from life for a few days.

I believe we paid around $145 a night for our room which was comfortable with thoughtful details. I LOVED the bathroom and claw foot tub. Worth every penny!

We ate at Le M restaurant and it was one of the best meals we’ve ever had. The food itself was beautiful and unique, but I also adored our waiter. I wish I could remember his name so management could give him our praise. He was from Nimes I believe. ANYWAYS, he just made the whole experience feel so personal. He was professional and genuine, knowledgeable and kind. Service was the cherry on top of a beautiful, special meal.

We also went to the spa, which was great! Just what we needed to relax after 3 weeks of traveling all over France. The pool was luxe and peaceful. The perfect ending to our stay.

This was a special experience for my girlfriend and I. We typically stay at airbnbs when we travel so it felt like such a treat to stay at Chateau de Massillon. I hope the staff and owners see this and know how grateful we are to them for providing such a perfect stay. I’m still dreaming about it almost a year later! Thank you!

We stayed two nights at the Chateau and were very pleased with out stay. The chateau itself, grounds and common areas are gorgeous. Our room was modern and very well appointed, including a modern bathroom. The front desk staff were very accommodating and made us two very nice offsite dinner reservations and were very accommodating when we had an air conditioning issue. The chateau is quite close to Chateauneuf du Pape which was our primary reason for visiting. Definitely would recommend a stay here.

Having looked at the fabulous pictures on the website I’m afraid that Massillan was not what we were expecting. When you pay absolute top dollar for a prestige room I think it’s fair to expect something very special. It’s a lovely chateau from the outside but once you’re there the staff seem rather preoccupied and disinclined to help. Wrong information and their own confusion over our check in time was badly handled. We waited in the bar and asked for tea - it never arrived. Our room was no more comfortable than a good €100 a night hotel. There were some nice touches such as the bamboo pillars in the bathroom etc but it still had a mid price feel about it. The rather dirty veranda with cheap furniture had absolutely no privacy, neither did the room in part due to the lack of anything other that blackout curtains. There were people walking dogs and golf carts riding within a few feet of our veranda. The wifi didn’t work. The stylish designer bathroom taps were impossible to operate with wet hands. The meagre tea and coffee included empty teabag envelopes! The final straw was that our booking was expensive (hence our anticipating an amazing experience) and was made many months ago but the room rate on the back of our door was advertised as €135 less than we paid. Add to that the fact that the expensive spa and breakfast were not included I’m afraid we were feeling ripped off and our patience was at an end so we decided to leave. To be fair, the on duty manager was very sympathetic and gave us a reduction for our one night stay.

The commentaries about this hotel are highly misleading. The attraction of the building has been completely spoilt by modern annexes, the rooms in the grandly named ‘Trianon’ are ordinary and not very clean. The swimming pool is losing its liner. the flower beds are full of weeds and the restaurant was closed. The staff were surly and defensive. They initially refused to serve breakfast in the room until they realised that my wife was not too well.
The price was exorbitant for the facilities and there was no sign of management. To be avoided.

On arrival we were told we could not have a dinner reservation due to staff shortages in either restaurant. As it turned out the main restaurant was closed but nothing says that online and we were never notified. At every point we were made to feel it was our fault and that we should have booked dinner when we made the reservation 7 months earlier.

We eventually got a salad served at the pool but no effort made to set us a table or anything. The prestige room was not as described on the website which we feel is misleading. We emailed our concerns and we only got a response when asked how our stay was on checking out. The GM was very defensive and was only interested in if the email had been sent.

On the plus side the Maitre De and his team (we had dinner the following night) we’re fantastic and the food lovely.

This hotel should rival Le Manoir but sadly I feel the attitude of the top team needs to change. We were told all the time that due to staff shortages (across the entire industry in France) was why the grounds needed serious attention, the bar was not manned and the main restaurant closed (being foodies the main reason for the stay). In 3 weeks in France this was the only establishment we went to that had this problem.

For the money stay somewhere else, it’s not worth it. Over promises but under delivers.
Very disappointing.

What a beautiful chateau. The staff are so professional yet very friendly and super helpful. This was a delayed birthday trip from April 2020 and they very kindly let us change our dates 3 times. The hotel is beautiful, rooms gorgeous (we were in room 32). The pool area is a lovely touch, especially at the end of a day driving/walking around beautiful Provence. Absolutely recommend!

We stayed here with our son for three nights in August. This was the start of our holiday after a long drive from Calais. The location is beautiful, the gardens are full of colour and wildlife. The building is everything you would want a chateau to be. Our room in the main building was a great size even with a pop up bed. The views are perfect. The staff are very friendly, sometimes they look super busy but just ask because they will help you. We had a professional and friendly service from Florian who explained the food and wine. I booked with Francios who was simply friendly and accommodating from the very start. The dinner and wine from the Chateau were superb, perfect seasonal food. And the icing is the most beautiful spa with a fantastic hydro massage pool. Oh my goodness!! two relaxing hours of utter pleasure for €30, it was so good we all went twice. So good, so relaxing and we are hoping to return one day. Thank you so much everyone.

Very beautiful place, excellent restaurant but the welcome at the reception was very poor. Some employees don’t know what is a customer centric approach and how to welcome people. Room very expensive without hair conditioner, the ecological approach is a pretext for economy

We booked a suite for two nights after a long journey. The hotel is in a lovely setting snd has real potential but there were parts of the room that were not clean and room facilities (toiletries, milk) that were lacking. For a hotel of this size to have no food available over two nights was really disappointing. It was not cheap either

Dear guests, we thank you very much for your time and are sorry to read that you are not totally satisfied with your stay. I can,t say much about your comments on the property of the room, except that we will be more vigilant in the future. Concerning the lack of facilities, we take responsbility for this choice. Hotels throw daily a huge number of unused amenities (moreover during covid time when nothing can be left in a room for the next client). We think therefore that it is not relevant for a hotel which wants to be sustanaible, to put those amenities in the room. Obviously they are avalaible on request. We haope that you will understand our approach. Warmest regards
