Amazing hotel in the forest
Opposite the hotel has a natural lovely spa!
I am so glad I sow once again my wonderful friend Dina on the reception.
As always she was smiling and willing to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
Thanks once more for the wonderful stay!

A traditional hotel surrounded by green. The previous time I stayed I used the thermal spa and it was really nice. A must visit to the spa ( after Covid problems)
A quiet hotel in the forest! Is really nice to go for a walk or running in the forest.
I have been coming for three years now.

I stayed at the Salvarola while being hosted here on a business trip. It's a small hotel with classic styling that's absolutely charming. I was welcomed by the very nice Cecilia who set me up in room 118. The rooms here split a balance between old world Italian and modern italian. For example, the desk, chair and wardrobe are period pieces and the inside window is also period. The exterior window is modern and insulated and the bathroom is completely modern, striking a balance between old world looks and modern advances. The bed was a little soft but comfortable enough.
Was here for three days and had breakfasts in the hotel. The breakfast spread is small and is the typical spread to be found in Europe. Some cold cuts, some cheeses, cereals, yogurt, hard boiled egg, breads, croissants (these were excellent) and juices. They also offer poached eggs and sausages but I suggest getting those early (opens at 7am) as they don't get replaced (ends at 10am). A very nice lady is available to prepare you a fresh espresso or cappuccino as well.
During the summer, the hotel hosts a Concours d'Elegance event for motorist enthusiasts. Being proper for this part of Italy, the hotel seems to be ardent supporters of Ferrari (a plus in my book!).
I don't know the full history but the property was owned by a family and now it is also a spa. Somewhere on the grounds are a full day spa as well as gym and swimming pool. We dined at the restaurant around back a couple of times and the meals were excellent. The husband and wife team that run the place are wonderful people who make great pizzas and just great food all around.

Overall it was alright. Communciation beforehand was good as i had a request which they meet. Staff generally were friendly and helpful. Spa was okay as well. There are 2 relaxation areas in the spa - the small relaxation room could do with the water fountain taking out of it as the room is small with people coming in and out continually you couldn't really relax. Clearer clarification on what half board doesn't include as my understanding of 3 course meal is starter, main and dessert but as we found out that is not the case - 3 course excludes dessert. Hotel, dinning room, breakfast and bedrooms were clean as well. Will come back.

The location is perfect!
Surrounded by nature.
The staff is friendly.
Rooms where comfortable.
The breakfast is adequate but not superb.
Overall a nice hotel for relaxation!
Is good to have time for walks around it and the use of spa. If you go just for sleep is pity!

Stayed here for 2 nights as I needed a bit of a retreat from my hectic working week. I had a choice between the best western plus and this I chose this despite costing more and being a lot further away, I was excited by the pictures of the pool and such. Was extremely disappointed to find out that use of the facilities comes at a rather steep price. I was told that use of the terme is 25 euro a day. But as a guest you can get it for 10 euro a day. I told them that in no place on the booking website did it say this- not even in the small print. On top of this my air con only blew hot air.. there were little insects on the curtains- beetles I think (managed to catch them in a cup and throw out). No tea/ coffee kettle- and an extremely basic breakfast. And not close to any restaurants except the onsite one. Sadly I couldn’t cancel the following day or I definitely would have. In hindsight I wish I would have chosen the bw+ Modena as you can have full use of all pools, indoor and out as well as all spa facilities for free. Oh and a cracking breakfast so I’m told. I will be taking this off my company’s recommended retreat list.

Had a very enjoyable stay. Location good, food inthe restaurant was a very nice surprise and not expensive. The staff in the hotel and the restaurant we t out of their way to be helpful and were very customer focussed. The room was a little tired but it was clean, dark and quiet whichis what mattered to us and it was warm which when it was snowing was just what was needed.
The spa was a very welcome addition for us and we visited every day during out stay. A very nice place to visit at the end of a long day walking around Modena, Bologna and of course all the famous car museums.
We would certainly stay again.

Special place, in nice green surroundings, close to the Terme. However, not integrated with the Terme. It would be better to make clear that the Terme are separate from the hotel (for instance you have to pay extra for a towel and so, to bring with you to the Terme. Bit odd, as the entrance to the Terme is a paying option when booking the hotel. It would be advisable to make that clearer. Rooms are nice, lobby great as well. There is some noise coming from the airconditioning or ventilation outside, yet otherwise very quiet hotel. No restaurant for dining. Sassuolo is a few minutes by car.

Unfortunately, we did not like the stay at all. There was no air conditioning in the whole hotel, which meant that we had to sweat for two nights. There was no apology at the reception, only the excuse that they currently have this problem with the air conditioning . (From the state of the hotel, this excuse has been given since last summer...). The whole hotel complex is very outdated and abandoned. It is clear that in Italy 4 stars are not equal to the international standard, but a minimum of comfort is required. There were no slippers, no bathrobes, a tiny shampoo and the bed was cruelly uncomfortable. The outdoor pool belongs to another building (not the hotel) and you have to wear swim caps.... The spa facilities are from the past century.

Response from Salvarola Terme, Direttore generale at Hotel Terme Salvarola
Responded 28 June 2023
The air conditioning broke on June 16th, due to the repeated alternation of heating/cooling required by the bizarre weather of the previous weeks. We immediately ordered the replacement part and normal operation was restored on June 21st. Your assumptions are therefore wrong. Slippers and bathrobe are available upon request. The thermal spa dates from 2000, the outdoor pool from 2021. Swimming caps are mandatory in the thermal pools for hygiene reasons. Perhaps the hygiene standards in your country are not the same as in Italy.
