Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Although the room appears to be from 1996 it's was very clean and tidy. Comfy bed, good tv and decent shower.

I was staying as I was working in the area and just needed a place to sleep. This was perfect although probably slightly too expensive.

A one night stop on the Great Ocean Road. Very comfortable room with enclosed balcony/eating area.
Typical Country Pub. Lovely meals, very friendly staff who will have a laugh with you.
Lots of friendly locals including the 4 legged variety.
Highly recommend after a day along this wonderful road.

Our TomTom was supposed to bring us to the Butterfly B&B in Nirranda, but instead brought us to Lavers Hill. We arrived in the dark. When we finally realised we were in the wrong spot it was dark. We had no cell phone reception. We asked the staff from Otway Junction Motor inn for help. We did not manage to get through to Butterfly inn by phone and there was no internet. So we decided to stay. Although the kitchen was closing they made a nice pizza for us and gave us the last room. Although it was all a bit primitive it was clean and they really made an effort of the room (see the picture). Nice poached eggs for breakfast.

We stayed here for 1 night on a cycling holiday along the great ocean road. Staff were very helpful and accomodating when we booked our room over the phone and had our room ready when we arrived.
The room was clean and comfortable, and had great views across a field filled with cows.
My partner loved his electric blanket!
We also had dinner takeaway from the adjoining restaurant, hot tip: the pizzas are excellent. Particularly the supreme!

When I called into the Otway Junction Motor Inn I was quite upset by some personal issues and wanted to find a public phone to call home. The man behind the counter saw the look on my face and immediately did a number of things - he made me a nice coffee, gave me change for the public phone and basically soothed me with care. I sat in the restaurant for a while and had further coffee and a wonderful breakfast while my mobile phone charged and although it was a cold and foggy morning (limiting the view a bit) I could tell that this would be a beautiful place to stay. Lavers Hill has the most amazing view that seems to go on forever. My sincere thanks to the wonderful people there who showed human caring that is so rare these days.

Initially seemed acceptable if a bit basic, but then the water ran thick brown, which matched the discolouration in the fridge seal. But worse was to follow as the room kept being invaded by two cats who made themselves comfortable on the bed pillows. As I am asthmatic, I couldn't risk staying, especially as place is hour+ to nearest med centre. Owner was extremely aggressive and after a half hour argument, we paid up half the rental to ESCAPE. My wife is seriously disabled, but we risked a treacherous drive through a gale in the dark rather than stay there. It may be okay in season, but good luck to anyone else.
We have never experienced anything like this before and every other motel we stayed at in Auz was excellent, even budget ones. HTH

This property is most definitely past its ' best before ' date. It is not even clean. Other than the view there is absolutely nothing good to say about this place. We were most disappointed. The deck was disgusting with bird droppings on the chairs, heaps of leaves, and moulding separating from the wall. The runner rug was so bad we rolled it up and put it out on the deck.

Stayed here for one night when travelling from Melbourne to Adelaide. This is not luxury accommodation but if you are looking for a comfortable room with great views and good food then this is ideal. Paid 100 dollars for the room and enjoyed dinner and breakfast in the adjacent bistro. This is a well run family business and the licensed bistro has a good menu with well cooked food.

Stopped in for a beer and feed after a long day.
Food was absolutely amazing.
The service was so atrocious it ruined the food.
What seemed to be the owner was a very rude person!
4 out of 5 beers tasted great and 1 in a different size glass was not. I tried to quietly pull the owner to the side and let her know and asked for a clean glass. Her response was "they are all cured the same way" and " no one ever complained before". She told us to have a free bottle from the fridge (I was thankful) but the horrendous smile and comment of "I gave you a free beer so just be happy", made me word vomit "we aren't coming back here". This made her follow me to my table and grit at me with that huge horrendous smile mouth for me to say "thank you I appreciate it" and she then said "well I would rather you just leave or i will call the police", (even thought I had paid for several meals and was not offered a refund). I took my beer outside and left the glass on the table and sat on the grass waiting for my friends.
She then proceded to follow me outside, accused me of stealing her glass and told me I have to leave her premises. I said I am waiting near the car so we can leave after they eat.. she then told me to move the car. My reply being "I am under the influence thanks for the permission to drink drive". She said "that's not my problem, leave the premises."
The conversation ended with some colourful words from myself and me moving to the median strip to then have my friends bring me the food out in napkins because the cheap manager wouldnt let them even buy a takeaway container.
Thanks again for a crap ending to an awesome day you "everything I called you"!
Please someone buy this awesomely situated pub or everyone boycott.. as this woman does not deserve a cent!
