This hotel is in lovely gardens and has a great view to mountains and reflections in the water. Rooms are good, service great, restaurant and food fabulous, wine nicely priced - great experience at check in, dinner and checkout. Better than staying in the township nearby we were told. It is fall and the colors are fantastic. Lovely person from...

Booked for one evening only with my wife as i was visiting the nearby Ardroran Marina, excellent welcome from the lady behind the reception desk, very friendly , informative & professional. The double room was warm, spacious, exceptionally clean & tidy albeit a little old fashioned. If you want an ultra modern hotel then this hotel is not for you....

We stayed here for 2 nights. Had a twin room with fantastic views across the loch. The beds were very comfortable and there were two comfortable leather chairs to sit in beside the window. The decoration was fine and there was a heated towel rail along with free toiletries.in the bathroom It was a reasonable sized bedroom - but drawer...

We suspect this hotel is maybe not open to non residents, however we were made very welcome. I ordered chicken breast and my partner ordered salmon. The vegetables were boiled potatoes, boiled carrots and boiled green beans so quite plain, but both my partner's salmon and my chicken were accompanied by different but wonderful sauces. For a sweet I thoroughly...

We checked into room 1 on the ground floor, nearest the reception and overlooking the carpark. A basic and old fashioned twin room. The window was poor fitting and we had to here all the cars park up on the gravel drive. The room had a very dated look and decoration was done for cheapness. The wardrobe was open and...

Fortunately for us, this place had a room for us. BUT, here are the cons: The place is carpeted, and must have allowed smoking at one time, it smells of smoke and must. Dated, dated, dated. I was told that the owners purchased the place in the 60's. It looks it. We sat down in front of the fire and...

The staff here are very friendly. The hotel is not open for lunch but I arrived early as I am walking the coast and not only was my room ready for me but I was provided with a sandwich lunch and a beer, even though they do not do lunch. Rooms were large with nice views over Loch Feochan and...

My husband and I booked this hotel over the phone without access to reviews or research and on the strength of it being included in a Heritage Scotland leaflet. Probably a good thing I hadn't read the reviews or I might not have booked it! We were wanting to treat ourselves and negotiated a three night "deal" for a one...

Wonderful reception and hospitality from the owner/hostess. Much useful information. Drying room on request. Book ahead. Quite removed from Oban. Very soft twin bed is akin to sleeping in a hammock; there is an urgent need to update beds. Must slam bathroom door for it to close. Hosts ask for key while you are out, but are not insistent on...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestling beside Loch Feochan in Argyll, Scotland, lays Knipoch Hotel (pronounced neepoch -och as in loch). This four star country house hotel is privately owned and run by the Craig family. We opened Knipoch as a hotel in 1981 when the original building was refurbished with the reception, kitchen and bedroom wing being added.Prior to this it was our family home with a history. In 1592, Campbell, Thane of Cawdor was assassinated here at the "house of Knipoch in Lorne".In England as well as Scotland, hotels vary and individually owned hotels each have a personality.
