Staying at Thorngrove Manor is the most magical and enchanting experience we have ever known. Everything about our stay was absolute perfection and completely surpassed our wildest dreams and expectations.

We were privileged to stay in the Queens Chambers and we could have just sat for hours admiring the beauty of the accommodation. It was so fascinating to hear about how Thorngrove Manor evolved and the complete passion and love that the owners Ken and Nydia have demonstrated to create a work of art. It is their life’s passion and so so apparent, as well their extremely hard work and dedication.

We count ourselves so lucky to experience and share momentarily the history and love at Thorngrove.

Upon arrival, we were met by Ken and nothing was too much trouble …we were immediately taken up to the Queens Chambers and we were completely stunned and fell in love with the suite straight away. Cannot begin to explain how amazing everything was during our stay …something anyone reading this review hopefully will be lucky enough to experience themselves as no words can truly describe the experience.

We had a most amazing afternoon Devonshire Tea upon arrival and served exquisitely and looked perfect and certainly tasted perfect.

We had a private outside terrace and was so relaxing just to sit and enjoy a couple of glasses of wine and take in the fantastic views and indulge ourselves with the beauty of everything. Thorngrove Manor is unlicensed so we had taken some wine with us which we had purchased during our visit to the local wineries (including Jacobs Creek).

Ken is the most fascinating person anyone could meet and we loved being part of the Thorngrove Manor magic and feel so privileged to have experienced this. Lydia, although technically, more in the background, is obviously as the saying goes "Behind every great man is a great woman".

Lydia created for us a most wonderful dinner which was served in our personal dining room in our suite. Upon arrival, our table had already been laid for dinner with exquisite tableware, glasses and silverware …everything has a history and charm. The food is certainly worthy of Michelin stars and so perfectly presented and all so fresh and great choice of menu. We both had the steaks for our main course and were the best we experienced in Australia! Breakfast next day was also perfect.

Thorngrove Manor is like stepping into another world and one that is indescribable - something you just have to experience yourself if you are lucky enough to - as written word cannot describe adequately the enormity of the love and passion that surrounds you.

The gardens surrounding Thorngrove are stunningly manicured and maintained … so many splendid features.

We were lucky enough to be given a tour next morning of Thorngrove Manor by Ken and everything was breath-taking and so many beautiful antiques and pieces lovingly collected worldwide by Ken and Lydia. The stained-glass windows in various parts of Thorngrove are magnificent and priceless. Although there are many items of antique furniture and period features it is to be noted that everything technologically is certainly up to date with great Wi-Fi internet, new bathrooms and lots of electricity points etc.

Finally, just want to offer a most heartfelt THANK YOU to Ken and Lydia for our most amazing experience …we so appreciate all of your hard work and love. You both deserve every happiness

Thorngrove Manor takes your breath away.
Absolutely stunning place and grounds. All the rooms are magical, beautiful and comfortable.
The owners Ken and Nydia are lovely, friendly people who obviously have a lot of pride in what they have created.

I would highly recommend this place. You will never forget your experience.

Here is a castle of love set in a fairy tale land just within half an hour's drive from Adelaide CBD. We were privileged enough to stay in the romantic Queen's Chamber over this Easter long weekend. We had stayed in old palaces in Europe but Thorngrove Manor has to top the list. Every room, every piece of furniture, every piece of tapestry, every piece of their antique collection has the owners Kenneth & Nydia Lehmann's signature on it, filled with their love, passion, dream, blood and sweat. It's easy to find a 7 start hotel to stay, but to find one with heart and soul, one can't go past Thorngrove Manor. The immaculate grounds, the 5 completely different yet stunning rooms, the 2 loving Mr & Mrs geese, the complete privacy, the full room services, the friendly host Ken with his whole hearted laughter and young at heart attitude, the fresh home style breakfast, the mouth watering afternoon tea, the superb 3 course dinner all gave us a most memorable stay. Thank you Lord Thorngrove for giving us a 'money can't buy' tour of the castle and open our eyes and mind to the history of Thorngrove Manor, reminding us that with love and dreams, anything is possible. We had a wonderful time staying in the castle, immersing ourselves in the love of the castle and making our dreams together. A truly unique experience. Please note that because the castle is totally managed by the owners themselves, they cannot service too many bookings at a time. They put their personal touch in our stay and we part as friends. We love staying in many of the top hotels around the world, but we never left our heart behind. Only at Thorngrove Manor. It would only be your loss to miss this experience.

It has to be a best kept secret. We felt like the only guests in this fairytale castle. We were totally blown away by the Tower Room-a rapunzel tower! We have never experienced anything like this before, from the moment Ken greeted at the gate. Attention to detail was amazing and the attentivenes and care is a result of ken's passion for architecture and sharing his creation with others. He is butler, host, architect, creator and dreamer!
The food had amazing taste and artistry. A privately catered dinner is a rarity. I think it was Coco Channel that said fashion goes out of style, but style never goes out of fashion.........
It is truly a unique experience in an imagination filled world. They only accpt a few guests at a time-the lucky ones like us. We will certainly go back, just for the beds.

Thorngrove is a whimsical castle escape, it is jam packed with artistry and creativity and truly unique. Kenneth greeted us at the amazing gates topped with mythical beasts (friendly of course). The passion is evident in every nook and cranny and the attention to detail amazing, the best we have ever seen.We stayed in the Observatory, which is like being in a birds nest high atop a tree-you can see for ever!
service is attentive and dinner amazing, served with antique silver. It is a tad quirky, but an amazing design with extraordinary detail. How often is the architect there to speak to guests and share the dream and vision? It is a privilege to be a guest in this unique fantasy world. The garden has hidden topiary animals hidding amongst manicured hedging;and absolute delight,

A unique experience from arrival to departure! Lovely accommodation in a beautiful garden setting. Stayed one night in the Castle Chambers which was simply wow! The furnishings were magnificent and every piece from the silverware to the bed has a story which Ken was happy to regale. Ken and his wife looked after my sister and I so well and their attention to detail is beyond description. Dinner was served in our Chambers and we were not disappointed with our choices. We were also fortunate to be given a tour of the property which was a real eye opener. Again - wow wow wow!!!

In the surroundings of this manor that looks like the adult version of Disneyworld but built with so much attention and perfection to every single detail (even the carvings in the furniture), our stay was pure bliss. Not only the exquisite fresh breakfast but also the private candlelit dinner was so romantic and made me feel like a princess in an other world. That is what defines Thorngrove Manor: mere perfection and an unbelievable eye for detail that makes your stay like a fairytale.

Thank you for your wonderful review Karolieni. Our architectural inspiration is from our colonial forefathers who built Gothic inspired buildings in the new colony. We are of course delighted that you enjoyed the surroundings with its rare and unique antique pieces. We pride ourselves son attention to detail and personal service with limited guest numbers, so it is so rewarding and humbling when this is acknowledged in a guest review. We hope to welcome you here again. Thank you so much for your review.

This hotel does not disappoint - the craftsmanship is outstanding - the eye for detail is exquisite from the mouldings on the walls and ceilings, the stain glass windows imported from Scotland and carpets crafted in England.. And the luxurious four poster bed with its Indian linen makes you feel like a queen or king during your stay.... But the eye for details does not end there - the culinary skills were exceptional - every dish was thoughtfully planned - choosing the perfect and best ingredients even if they have to be expressed shipped - only the best will be put on the plate

There are no words that could describe how perfectly special & remarkable our experience was while staying in the Observatory at Thorngrove Manor for our 10th wedding anniversary... Pure opulence, luxury, attention to detail, exquisite service, a romantics dream... Our superb 6 star dinner, served in the beautiful dining room below a towering antique candle lit chandelier was an absolute highlight..
We could not feel more privileged to stay in such an incredible & private luxury hotel.. Memories to last us a lifetime.. Thankyou
