I'm so excited I found this amazing place when I was searching for somewhere to stay to celebrate my 50th! Nydia and Ken were perfect hosts! We stayed in the Castle Chambers and were blown away with all the incredible antiques that we were allowed to use! Normally you'd just get to see them from behind a barrier at a museum! The King sized bed was SUPER comfortable! The breakfast choices were vast - we loved choosing different options each day! We also selected in room dining for one night, and again - gosh talk about 5 star fine dining!! WOW!!! And because we stayed mid week we were so very fortunate to get a sneak peak at the other rooms (as no guests were in house) - and that was so fabulous to hear how Thorngrove came about, and all the skilled artisans they were able…

My husband and I had our small intimate elopement at the absolutely Magical Thorngrove Manor. We stayed in the magnificent Castle Keep & had the romantic candle lit dinner after our ceremony. It was like being transported into another time, and the food was exquisite. The personal touches in the room were so very thoughtful & the breakfast was an absolute flavor bomb with delicious coffee. Having the ceremony here in the beautiful grounds with our Violinist & Cellist was beyond special. The grounds really do take your breath away and I am looking forward to coming back for our anniversary or vow renewal! (Perhaps both!!) Nydia and Ken were so kind & helpful with my thousand and one questions leading up to our special stay, and I really can't thank you enough for the…

Absolutely unique luxury experience living like royalty for the night, in an actual castle, ornate with embossed ceilings, tapestries, stained glass windows, chandeliers, stone spiral staircases and beautiful hedge gardens with resident geese! Thoroughly enjoyed a delicious regional tasting platter at sunset on the verandah overlooking the observatory tower, before retiring to our castle chambers, to enjoy a glass of wine and supper by the fireplace! The hosts, Kenneth and Nydia, are both very attentive to your comfort whilst also respectful of your privacy! We were lucky enough to get a guided tour of the castle to learn about the history of the incredible building, which has been designed so uniquely with the most incredible attention to detail. Well worth treating…

To experience something magical, it would normally be through a enthralling fairy tale or an engaging movie, but Thorngrove Country Manor is really a magical experience. As one marvels at the intricate detail that Ken has painstakingly toiled at for 30 years and the incredible detail that the couple have gone to in all their furnishings, their entire home is a magical place that leaves you a truly unique experience. If you have stayed there you know what I mean.....if you haven't stated there, this should be on your bucket list. 6 stars

Let me start off by saying, if I could select 10 starts - I would in a heartbeat. My Fiancé organized a night away for us on my 30th Birthday, which was a complete surprise to me and I could not think of a better way to spend it other than a night at Thorngrove Manor. First impressions - The grounds; are immaculately kept. The attention to detail in the gardens is at the highest level. The beautiful castle of Thorngrove will take your breath away in an instant and is without a doubt unrivaled in its class. Ken greeted us as we pulled up at the gate and was warm and welcoming, showing us to our room and offering to carry the bags for us. We stayed in the Castle Chambers, in which Ken happily showed us around and is extremely knowledgeable about every item in the room - If…

Words cannot describe this place. Pictures do this place no justice. If you are looking at the picture and saying wow, wait until you see it in person. I have travelled to a lot of places around the world and it’s crazy that something this beautiful is in SA’s backyard. As soon as we got here, we were greeted by Kenneth who showed us around and explained the story about this amazing place. We had a stunning dinner and are looking forward to breakfast in the morning! I just wanted to say thanks again Kenneth, this place is definitely breathtaking. Looking forward to staying here again next time we are in SA.

One of the most admiring hotels I have stayed in. Thorngrove manor made my wedding day special and memorable. It was such a unique experience leaving you amazed everywhere you look. The Castle was impressive and captivating all the way from the Castle, the Gardens to the rooms. The rooms were unique with a piece of history filled with antiques. You find yourself admiring all the furniture and artwork bringing you back in time. The host made us feel warmly welcomed from arrival and departure. The food was delicious and loved the selection. If you’re looking for a luxury romantic private stay, where you feel like a King and Queen, I highly recommend Thorngrove manor as it’s like nothing in South Australia. You will not be disappointed other than having to leave the place. I…

Dear Nydia and Ken, Thorngrove is just magical! It’s a wonderful place so romantic, I couldn’t have imagined it would have been as wonderful as it is. Ken is amazing! Such a beautiful building and the perfect place for our anniversary. Nydia, the food was just wonderful! (With all our dietary requirements) I’m sorry I couldn’t thank you in person! You really made a fantastic feast, every meal!! The breakfasts, the charcuterie platter (I can’t begin to describe the assortment of delicious things there!). The picnic was so perfect! (I’m so glad I asked for a picnic!) And the formal dinner finished it off to perfection! The beautiful dishes and gorgeous cutlery made the time we spent at Thorngrove momentous. The attention to detail you both showed with nothing spared was…
