Staying at Thorngrove was a truly special experience. The grounds were immaculate and beautiful. The rooms and antique furniture was stunning and suited the estate perfectly. We appreciated the in room compendium’s with information regarding the local area, property, antiques and our specific suite. Adelaide was really hot the day we stayed but our entire suite, including the stairwell, was nice and cool, the perfect temperature. It was lovely to walk into some wonderful folk music playing upon entry. Great selection of CD’s, games, DVD’s and things to keep you entertained, we wish we had more time there. Having two bathrooms in a 1 bedroom suite was a great luxury. Ken & Nydia took wonderful care of us and made us feel like royalty. We loved chatting with Ken about the incredible property. The food was 10/10, amazing. Afternoon tea, 3 course dinner & our breakfast were all delicious, fresh & high quality. The love & care put into the experience by the hosts is evident. For us, absolutely worth the money and we will be back again. Thank you Thorngrove!

Wow, I'm still trying to process this amazing experience. The pictures do not do this place justice. On arrival we were greeted by Ken who guided us in to our undercover parking and then led us into our chamber. He was very polite and all I had to do was call "17" on the in room phone for service. The rooms were not your standard "Motel" rooms but a real, authentic castle dwelling. The rooms each contained a Bose sound system along with a choice collection of CD's. The fridge was stocked with various goodies and chocolates and greeting letter were also included. Upstairs and downstairs each had their own spa bath and every kind of soap, oils and moisturizer that you would ever need. Heaters and coolers everywhere, heated towel rails, the list goes on and on. In the morning we were served with the breakfast we selected from the vast menu. A large jug of coffee, croissants, freshly squeezed orange juice and of course a newspaper. Sheer luxury, no other words to describe this place. Put this one on your bucket list, honestly it's a must do. Go on, spoil yourself, you won't be disappointed. Oh I forgot to mention the gardens, SPECTACULAR. The English Box hedges, Azaleas, Camellias and various exotic trees, I could go on and on. Thank you folks for an incredible experience.

Staying at Thorngrove Manor was a dream come true, pinch me Am I Dreaming kind of experience. From the very first email correspondence with Nydia to the warm welcome from Ken, Thorngrove Manor, far exceeded my expectations. I booked Thorngrove for a very special date with my partner and the experience did not disppoint. The attention to detail of this place is unmatched. Our 3 course organic dinner was delicious and lick the plate worthy. Chocolates and Port in the afternoon was a lovely treat and afternoon tea was made up of fresh and sumptuous morsels of yumminess. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. It was perhaps, the most magical and wonderful experience we have shared and one that we will never forget. Exemplary service provided by both Nydia and Ken, exquisite rooms filled with authentic antiques and phenomenonal dining awaits. Do yourself a favour and visit this unbelievable place. An absolute dream come true. Thank you both.

Wow this place is still on my mind since we stayed back in August. It was a bucket list dream of mine and the wonderful owners Ken and Nydia made the stay so memorable. What I loved about this place is not just it's beauty but the architectural design of this magnificent structure. The thought and attention to detail is seen everywhere such as the carved bed, the ornate ceiling, antiques, even to the afternoon tea with special touches. We stayed in the Observatory room and enjoyed our spa looking up to the painted stars ceiling. We were even fortunate enough to chat to Ken who built the Manor have a tour, and it felt special as we had the whole place to ourselves so we could explore the garden. Overall the whole stay was amazing and I do hope to stay again.

Magical, phenomenal, exceptional, astonishing - These words do not even come close to describing how breathtaking and mind blowing Thorngrove Manor truly is...

We were lucky enough to hold our small wedding on the grounds of Ken and Nydias fairy tale like castle. Staying 2 nights in the castle chambers and let me tell you, we felt like a King and Queen for the entire stay.

We have stayed before but continue to be blown away by the picturesque surroundings and the intricate detail in not only the architecture, but the experience provided as well. There is really nothing else like this in South Australia.

As we were staying for 2 nights, we were served an exquisite afternoon tea on arrival before selecting a place on the grounds for our ceremony which was actually quite difficult given the immaculately presented gardens on the property. We then dined privately in our chamber for dinner with what can only be described as 7-star restaurant quality. As abit of a foodie myself, I'm astonished by the care, presentation and taste of the meals served. Truely of the highest quality!

As the night cooled, Ken was happy to allow us to use the fire in the upstairs portion of the chamber, this created the most relaxing atmosphere we have ever experienced, the large comfortable bed, the crackling of the fire with a glass of scotch off to the side.. For the evening before a wedding, all stress disappeared into that fire!

Now lets get to the wedding..

"WOW!" - Was the first words of our small little guest list, even the photographer and celebrant could not believe how beautiful Thorngrove is. The weather was stunning, and the grounds provide such amazing photo opportunities, we will be sending you some of the best I promise!

Ken opened up the Kings chambers for our guests to see and also some extra photo opportunities, the attention to detail in each room is just so incredible...

The day went perfectly, no problems, no hassles, just pure bliss. There was nothing else in the entire world besides us and Thorngrove on that day. You have created such a magical and otherworldly experience!

We cannot thank you enough for allowing us the opportunity to share our special day with you Ken and Nydia, an unforgettable experience in which nothing else would of came close to. A 1 of a kind memory.

We will absolutely be staying here again, for many years to come. If you have not stayed here yet, you need to. A true gem hidden in the Adelaide hills and a masterpiece created by Ken and Nydia.

Thank you so much,

Brad & Cristy

My husband and I had our small intimate elopement at the absolutely Magical Thorngrove Manor.

We stayed in the magnificent Castle Keep & had the romantic candle lit dinner after our ceremony. It was like being transported into another time, and the food was exquisite. The personal touches in the room were so very thoughtful & the breakfast was an absolute flavor bomb with delicious coffee.

Having the ceremony here in the beautiful grounds with our Violinist & Cellist was beyond special. The grounds really do take your breath away and I am looking forward to coming back for our anniversary or vow renewal! (Perhaps both!!)

Nydia and Ken were so kind & helpful with my thousand and one questions leading up to our special stay, and I really can't thank you enough for the beautiful experience you gave us that we will cherish forever.

This place is absolutely amazing! Whimsical fairytale architecture unsurpassed by anything I've ever seen (and I have travelled a lot!). The owners have somehow distilled the most magical beautiful parts of gothic and other architectures of a grand bygone era into one building that in my view beats out much more well known amazing architectural masterpieces of Frank Lloyd Wright and Frank Gehry. But this place is so much more than the incredible architecture. It has layer after layer of intricate history enshrined in the vast array of valuable living antiques that form a usable part of the live in rooms of this architectural gem. Ken and Nydia bring this all to life in real time. And the food, oh my word you will feel like pampered royalty. No Hungry Jacks for this boy! If you wish to treat yourself and your partner just once in your lifetime, make sure it's this place. Karl and Amanda

I chose Thorngrove as the place to propose to my partner and it was absolutely perfect. I've lived in the Hills most of my life and always wondered what a stay at Thorngrove would be like and it did not disappoint!
Ken's hospitality was amazing and the food Nydia served up was incredible. She was more than happy to cater to our vegetarian diets.
With the fire going in the castle chambers surrounded by beautiful antiques it was truly a romantic stay we will never forget.

One of the most admiring hotels I have stayed in. Thorngrove manor made my wedding day special and memorable.

It was such a unique experience leaving you amazed everywhere you look. The Castle was impressive and captivating all the way from the Castle, the Gardens to the rooms. The rooms were unique with a piece of history filled with antiques. You find yourself admiring all the furniture and artwork bringing you back in time.

The host made us feel warmly welcomed from arrival and departure. The food was delicious and loved the selection.

If you’re looking for a luxury romantic private stay, where you feel like a King and Queen, I highly recommend Thorngrove manor as it’s like nothing in South Australia. You will not be disappointed other than having to leave the place. I felt privileged and could have easily stayed longer. We will defiantly be back.

Thanks Nydia and Ken
