Had a lovely dinner in the Bistro with a lady friend last Tuesday night. Easy to find, good parking, very welcoming, nice choice of red wine, well priced, great service at the bar, very attentive, interesting menu as well as daily specials. My friend ordered the Porchetta while I ordered the vension fillet and we shared a radicchio salad. We asked for a small side of roast potatoes but not available. No potatoes - strange? When the meals arrived we both noticed the difference in servings - the Porchetta somewhat generous and my vension just a little better than an entree size. The potatoes would have been welcome at this point. We both enjoyed the meal, no quibbles there but the disproportionate serving size was a disappointment to me. I can't recall the plate price of the porchetta, possibly around a similar price $36 but I was expecting a little more. I left hungry... I would like to visit again soon, perhaps for a lunch for another try.

Great hotel in the heart of town. The rooms are huge with a gas fireplace and big balcony (we were in room 4). Stunning with beautiful books on Australian artists and Adelaide Hills gardens. Lovely range of organic herbal teas in room too.

There is a communal kitchenette to help yourself to - it looked well equipped with coffees, teas, cereals and toast. We opted for the hotel's brilliant patisserie instead. We also had an excellent dinner in the hotel.

There was a little noise from the music downstairs on our first night but it was fairly faint and was over pretty early.

Would definitely stay again.

We spent two nights at the Stirling hotel in room 3. We visited SA from Melbourne and first time in Adelaide hills. The hotel is stunning. It’s a beautiful venue for everything you would want on a luxurious weekend away. Loved the room. They had many special touches to make the room comfortable and luxurious. Amazing huge double bath! Fireplace was definitely welcomed on the cold weekend we had. Such a pretty town where this hotel makes it feel like your in a fairy tale. The lady who greeted us at reception on arrival was so pleasant and helpful which makes a huge difference from some other places. I will be recommending this hotel to those looking for luxury and romance in a special part of Adelaide.

As many have mentioned, the service is unfortunately very poor at this pub. The pub itself is beautiful, particularly on a sunny day out front, and the food is great too. Every time we have been here though, we generally stick to outside so we don't feel like we are being a burden on anyone. We live halfway between the Stirling and the Crafers, and looked forward to walking to the Stirling on a Friday night after work for a drink and pizza.
However, after yesterday we will head to the Crafers from now on. The younger staff at the Stirling have always been really friendly and helpful, so can't fault them. Yesterday, though we visited with 7 adults and 3 kids. We hadn't booked, so asked where we could sit for dinner. We were told to sit at a long table by the pizza bar that had a reserved sign on it. We queried that but were assured it was fine.
After spending over $500 on dinner and drinks, we had just received our entrees when an older staff member rushed up to us in an aggressive manner to say 'don't you know the table is reserved!?' After telling her we had asked and were told it was ok she stormed off. She returned to say well there was mixed communication, we didn't think you would take up that much room (we were bunched up apart from 2 of the kids who sat slightly down the table to colour in), move down. No apologies for their mixed communication.
That is unfortunately the main issue with the pub, the mixed communication by staff, which leads to passive aggressive behaviour and food served to groups at different times, rather than all together. We will frequent the Crafers from now on - feels more upmarket and less hectic.

I am a local and loved going down for a pub meal and a drink. The ambience is good, although a bit noisy, but my biggest disappointment is the change to menu. As a vegan, its hard to get a good pub meal and I used to always have their vegan parmigiana. It is now two pieces of dry eggplant with tomato sauce and vegan cheese. The other vegan options are also not good. Can you please go back to your old parmigiana recipe and improve the vegan menu generally.

Arrived early and lucky us our room was available. Wow perfect in every way, everything was exactly as we remembered from our last stay many years ago.
Room was very comfortable with everything we needed. We had room #4 with steam shower (normal shower as well and a double so lots of room, so nice to have something different to home. Balcony was comfortable and nice view of main street. Had drinks by the fire down stairs and also had dinner in restaurant again great service and the food was delicious. Perfect romantic couples get away was just what we needed. Staff were all very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Thanks we hope to be back soon.

We stayed last night in room 5 for our 3rd wedding anniversary. We had booked a cooking class near by and decided to treat ourselves. From the very start was greeted with polite and friendly staff the room was absolutely amazing .. friendly bar and room service was great .. didn’t fully get to
Utilise the room service menu or dining experience but great excuse to return ASAP .. fireplace was perfect for the chilli night bed was so comfortable and room was good size, bathroom was incredible as the self service kitchen area down the hall
Great set up and night / breakfast
Thank you for a refreshing night away from the children we will see you for a full
Weekend very soon :)

I cannont belive this place scores such a high review
I have stayed here a few times of work and I am still recovering.
The food is terrible and the service is even worse.
I will stay down in Adelaide from now on.
Please reconsider this terrible venue.

Check in was haphazard-reception desk unattended, had to go looking for someone to check us in. No breakfast in dining room during the week. No In room directory-so you will need to give google a work out to find breakfast venues. Thankfully there are a number of places in the main street. Towels are hard and rough-more akin to sandpaper. Bed was very comfortable. No instructions on how steamroom/shower works....discovered this too late to ask. Given the nightly rate, I was expecting better service, info etc. Wouldn't stay again. Overall not worth the money. Will do a BnB next time.
